The Seagull Gossip, Soquel School's paper, was first edited in the winter of 1946 by Mr. Medlen's seventh grade. The name was picked in a contest sponsored by the Spquel Student Body. The winning entry was submitted by Jack O'Conf1or. This year the paper was published by Mrs. Peake's seventh and eighth grades. The first edition for this term came out in early October. The Seagull Gossip was scheduled to appear every two weeks. For the majority of the year we kept to this routine, but once or twice it was lengthened to three weeks because of insufficient news.- During the course of the year we exchanged papers with eleven other schools. The paper was discontinued in February because of the need to work on this Year Book. Richard Breckgn

It nominated the Studen Body Officers and put them on a ballot. The school Cfourth through eighth grades! voted on them. We have appointed committees to help improve the school. They are as follows: Traffic Patrol, Gary Padeng Bicycle Safety Club, Schuyler Wallace, Building Committee, Aileen Hurley, Grounds Committee, Donna Martin, Athletic Com itteeg Aileen Hurley and Gary Paden. The Student Council has made money in various ways. We have had a playday and made a little money by selling cokes and candy. With the money we have earned we bought a Sound-mirror Magnetic Tape Recorder. We can record Student Council meetings, baseball games, radio programs, and also use it for playing back practice radio progranm we have during the year. The Student Council has done a great deal of good with school law violator who have thrown papers and other refuse around.
