Sequel Movies Throughout the year at Sequel School, we have been showing movies in the classrooms. Due to recent developments itis possible to show sound movies in the daylight with the aid of a shadow box. During the recent years the motion pictures were shown in the auditorium, but, since there is no auditorium this year the movies are shown in the rooms. The school board purchased special equipment so that the rooms in which the movies are need not to be darkened except to pull the shades. All school movies are both educational and interesting to the pupil and the teacher. The films range from comedies to sports and adventure. Some of the out- standing pictures of the year were: WCamera Magicn, a picture about the tricks of the cameraman, in which all tricks are explained so that even the amateur can perform them, and NPals of the Westn, a comedy western illustrated in real life. Other pictures were: WThril1 cf a Secondn, a hair-raising picture that will make the calmest shudder at the things men will do for a living, NThe Eruption of Mount Vesuviusn, an actual Pictorial record of how a volcano is born, and NSki Revelsn, a picture about skiing contests, showed fun and the dangers of ski contests. The pupils that ran the projector were: Richard Breckon, Jack O'Connor, Ronnie Fikes, Schuyler Wallace, substitutes were: Robert Ball and Bob Morgan. Robert W. Ball Radio Programs k This year through the cooperation of K.S.C.O. many of us have had the experience of being on the radio. We think that it has been very interesting and educational. We have had a science quiz, in which the seventh and eighth grades took part. Next the students from Mrs. Peake's room reviewed the opera WLa Traviatan, and dramatized it on the radio. After that many slogans were made up for keeping Santa Cruz County clean and beautiful, and they were all read over the air. Mrs. Malloch's second grade had a lesson over the radio on playing rhythm band. All of Mrs. Maire's fifth grade students had to write short stories, using good sentences in them for their English lesson.. The eight best stories were picked, and later read over the radio by the author. Miss Kevil's third grade put on a program in which they played their rhythm . orchestra, it was conducted by Bruce Manildi. A violin solo was played by Stephen Pierce, and Harrison Lake was Miss Kevil's accompanist. 1 - Bonnie Cox Field Day Every year our school has a special day set aside for field day. We. invite all the schools in the county to come. Different schools compete in sports to win ribbons and awards. This year field day was held May 283 and we had the high school band play for us. The P.T.A. served refreshments all through the noon hour and until time to go home. This field day was the biggest and best we have ever had. This was the last year that Soquel Field Day will be with seventh and eighth grade students, as these grades are going to attend Mission Hill School. - Kay Wright
