Creative electives add ceramics, sculpture to list of courses featuring varietg Ceramics and sculpture was added to the al- ready extensive list of elective classes this year. Under the instructorship of Mr. George Cadell, head of the art department, the class stressed design, shape and texture. Sporting their new uniforms from the previous year, the band was named outstanding band at East Central State College's homecoming. Other courses in the creative vein were choir, boys' and girls' choruses, sewing, cooking, drama, speech, iournalism, as well as fashion and design and commercial art. f '1 J

Training for occupations stressed bg various courses in campus vocational site Preparation for future occupations was the goal of the numerous vocational courses. Housed in the Hill vocational building on the southeast corner of the campus were Cosmetology, welding, cabinet making, upholstery, carpentry, body and fender, and auto mechanics. Other courses were metal work, drafting and de- signing, woodwork, and machine shop. Distributive education and Industrial Cooperative Training were work-study programs which enabled students to earn money while they gained practical experience.
