Duane Harper demonstrates techniques to his students. 8 Expanding Opportunity to Enrollees Ottering one ot the largest vocational curricula in the city, Capitol Hill's vo- cational department provides opportunities to learn a trade which will be usetul, as well as enioyable. Atter completing the two to three years required to tinish the courses, students are capable ot applying their skills in the business world as employed adults. Al- though they are tar trom being masters in their chosen tield, they have acquired an extensive background and need only experience to make them accomplished crattsmen. Courses in 'Practical' Vein Offer Students Training for Daily Living Another group ot classes in the very i'practical vein are the industrial art classes. There is a training program set up at the l-lill tor students seeking such courses. For girls who plan to be homemakers or protessionals in the tield, Clothing I and 2 are ottered. ln addition, Foods I and 2 as well as tamily living are taught. ln these classes the tundamentals ot cooking and sewing are the major principles ot the year. The homemaking department presented an annual style show during the Christmas season. The clothes that were displayed were made by the advanced clothing students. lntricate and extensive training are ottered in metal work, woodwork, and mechanical drawing.
