The men behind the rockets, missiles and satellites are trained mathematicians and scientists who have had many years of schooling during their lifetime. Instructors of the Hill math and science classes are preparing students for these fields in both science and math classes. All Redskin students are required to take at least one year of math. Classes range from business math to trigonometry, At least one credit in science is required, also. Classes vary from biology to physics in the science department. With more trophies and certificates of honor than trophy cases and walls will hold, the activity department is repre- sented in almost every contest held in the state and in many national events. Music festivals at nearby universities and colleges always rate the Hill band and choir at the top for both group and solo work. Play production and forensic students are busy on many Weekends during the year, matching abilities and wits against speech tournament competitors. A Hill student has been entered in the national contest for the past two years. Newspaper and yearbook staffs also rate highly with collegiate, state, and national rating services which measure them against other publications from schools of like size. Contests are far from the only interest of the groups. Their primary goal is to gain skill and knowledge and to provide entertainment and enlightenment to the student body through assemblies, plays, and the printed word.
