During our three years at CHHS, we were planning ..... 14 gfuelarinf Ll' flue jufure A building was never built, from the smallest cottage to the highest skyscraper, without a plan. Neither can a life be built without this all important blueprint. We begin our three years in high school thinking over various plans. We find that some have to be discarded be- cause they are impractical: others, just as appealing, would require more than we have the resources for: some we put back for future reference. While looking and thinking over these plans, we are ever gaining the knowledge that is nec- essary to make up the materials of the fininshed product- our future. Wide sources of learning in various fields are offered in CHHS. Some students may graduate equipped with business or vocational training and go right on to their lives' works. Others have chosen and gained the background to go on to higher schools of learning. We may compare our instructors with the architects who help draw up the blueprint. They are here to help us select and obtain the best plan. In this, our yearbook, we tell the story of the school where each student spends three years in work and play gathering the resources that make up his own BLUEPRINT FOR THE FUTURE. -Eva Hocutt, Editor -2-

Because she Ioves and understands CH HS students, we dedicate the 1952 Chieftain ..... jo WMM. eiqeffge ugjummerfi Guidance and care is needed to mold the future of each student who passes through the halls of CHHS. While each person is select- ing his own blueprint for the future, he must have someone guiding and teaching him, for this is a task he cannot do alone. Capitol Hill High School has been blessed with a teacher who has sent a great number of our students out into life better able to meet and understand it both spiritually and intellectually. Never have we seen a teacher more anxious to help a student or more willing to listen to and understand his problems. In 1945 when the request for a class in Bible History was made by students, she took on the difficult task of teaching persons from all denomina- tions and faiths and has done a remarkable job. She has helped create interest in the class by sponsoring .a Bible History Club. In her many years of work with students she has taught mathematics, English, history, Bible History and Latin. In recognition of this great person, we respectfully dedicate the 1952 Chieftain to Mrs. Hettye Summers. ..3....
