pi ' ; ST 1 AMBASSADOR CAPITOL CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 610 LARGO ROAD UPPER MARLBORO, MD. 20870 IC ' .A ' 3 , r ' ' ‘ ■ ■ : mpu ia T fotte gay-s trives to promote ion. It opened its Capitol Ch r i s t i a nfl riaci eTt!r5 TC doors inPjfptember of 1961, with sixty-seven students ranging from grades 1 to 6. Grades 7 through 11 were added steadily through the next few years, and in 1969-70, C. C. A. granted diplomas to its first graduating class. Now, in 1976, we have a student body of approximately 550, and a faculty and staff of 26. As C. C. A. continues to grow, next year the classroom facilities will be expanded and a multi-purpose gym will be constructed to accommodate an increased student body. 3 swm p To believe what most people believe is to play the fool. We teach our students to be leaders who have the courage to be different. This year, C. C. A. has added a band program to the curriculum. Along with the new instruments, a bandroom was purchased to complete the start of the band program. r « V « Our teachers bring us more than academic creden¬ tials; they lead holy lives dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ. With His guidance, coupled with compassion and patience, our teachers are bringing us to disciplined, spiritual maturity. The measure of a teacher’s compassion and dedica¬ tion is not how difficult they make it to succeed, but how difficult they make it to fail by living before the students consistent, disciplined lives for the Lord Jesus Christ. Working hard and learning much, but. . . definitely Many important images come to mind when we think of you. Your influences are very much a part of our lives. Most of us see you as a teacher, teaching us well in our search for truth and knowledge. A few of us think of you as a firm but understanding disciplinarian giving us a little added incentive to keep us in line. Some of us know you as an able coach, willing to sacrifice your time and effort to help us become better players on the court, both in skill and sportsmanship, urging us to dedicate our lives and talents completely to our Lord Jesus Christ. You have dealt with us all in your fun-loving way, sprinkled with your unique wit and good humor. You have shown us that Christian life can be not only fun, but exciting. You always seem to find the time to care, to give us that bit of personal attention that is needed. Your time and help given to your fellow teachers is also very special. A very select few of us think of you as a loving father, bringing us up in the environment that he has faith in. As a whole, we know you are our friend, our spiritual leader and our example. Because of our love for you and in appreciation for what you have accomplished in our lives, we dedicate the 1976 Ambassador to you . .. A beautiful candlelight tapping cere¬ mony was held in honor of their induction into the National Honor society. The tapping was performed by the teachers whose high school performance brought them National Honor Society membership. Judge Woods brought a challenging speech to those students who had not been inducted urging them to perform to the best of their ability. The parents of those inducted were invited to see the induction and then to accompany their sons and daughters to a tea following the ceremony which was planned, arranged, and hostessed by the Home Ec. You will be leaving C.C.A. and moving on in your lives. You may never pass this way again. In the last few months there have been those serious thoughts of your future. All your dreams are on their way. That important decision that just had to be made. What next??? Some of you will quickly become separated geographically over the U. S., but in spirit you will be together . . . Love will keep you together. The lessons learned and the friends made within these walls will continue to influence your lives throughout the years. Some of the memories will fade with time . .. But time races on . . . people and scenes change Like a fast-moving play on the stage of your lives. There are always things, though, that you will never forget - events, characters, or just feeling . .. The distinct “coolness” of being a SENIOR. You are really the top people of the school. And you finally got to sit in the back row for chapel. Getting out of class to get Senior pictures taken. Sitting in that hot little room with the camera flash in your eyes. Going outside in the cool autumn air to stand beside a tree or fence for outside shots. Then waiting impatiently for the proofs to come. Being a Senior is so expensive! Ordering pictures is so confusing! None of you will ever forget Mr. Waite’s class. A select few will never forget James chapter three. Remember the cheerleaders trying to get people to yell in those cold outside pep rallies . . . The great basketball games that got you in such high spirits . . . And the unbelievably bad games that brought you so low. The times when school was so boring! Times when pressure was on from every side and you thought you’d never make it through. Somehow the work got done and you survived. Finally spring and warm weather came . . . ONLY THREE MORE MONTHS!!! Haven’t you noticed the days somehow keep getting longer . . . Oh, and the hassle of getting your Senior trip set up! You almost gave up hope, but it DID work out. The memories of that trip will be a valuable possession, belonging only to your class . .. forever. And then came the Jr. Sr. Banquet. Some of you definitely had it made, but others were wondering “Who am I gonna go with?” and later, “What am I going to wear?” or “What kind of tux?” Hoping that the Juniors didn’t have TOO much on you. Secretly hoping that they have enough to embarrass you - but just a little bit. The magic of the night of May 7th passed too quickly. Afterward .. . feeling so dead around five in the morning. Falling asleep dreaming that the night could have gone on and on. Ordering graduation invitations sure felt funny! Making arrangements for graduation . . . caps and gowns, tassels and diplomas. Hoping you got out of most of your exams. Starting to get graduation cards and presents. Graduation only a week away . .. six .. . five . . . The Baccalaureate service on that Sunday afternoon . .. Four . .. three . .. two . . . ONE DAY AWAY!!! All of a sudden, there you were - walking through those doors in your caps and gowns. Feeling very strange sitting in the first two rows of church. The addresses, testimonies, and speakers passed quickly and before you knew it you heard your name. You’re probably still wondering how you ever made it up to the platform, took the diploma with your LEFT hand, shook hands with your RIGHT hand, and made it down the steps on the other side without falling, fainting, crying, laughing, or throwing your cap up in Hi 1 raSBRS KHMi i 4 ,1 45 J 11
