O-w Page Twenty-Fi il ff 1 -al Y J ARMY OF TYPISTS Something new and different has been started this year in the typing classes. The members of these classes all joined the army--of typists-with its traditional ratings from Buck Private to Master Sergeant. The ratings are awarded according to the number of words typed per minute. The Buck Private is given his award for typing at the rate of ten words a minute. The Master Sergeant, the highest ranking officer in our army, is given his rating for sixty words per minute. Those in the army are given chevrons according to their rating which are worn on the left arm. To keep track of the progress made by the army a chart is kept in the back of the typing room. Under a beautiful picture of Our Lord of the Sea are the blue charts headed with the different ranks from Buck Private to Master Sergeant. When a student types a paper with five mistakes or less, his name is typed on a white slip if a junior, and a gold slip if a senior typist. These are placed on the blue chart which corresponds to the words per minute obtained on his test. J. C. VC
