It was in 1946 that Fort Lov was (in)fam- ous, it was in 1946 that the barracks and Metz’s “dog house” came into being . . . It was a pretty sight at registration that year, with hardened Cl’s and frightened high-school seniors lining up to enter this ivory tower . . . Three years later, the GI’s have softened and the high- school seniors have grown up, so that the Class of '51 is now a homogeneous group, more or less . . .
