Girls' Swimming and Diving 100 percent effort and continued improvement through- out the season was the mark of the '79 girls' swimming and diving team. Cross town rivalry again proved itself as the most exciting meet ending with Capital and Oly locked in an 81 to 81 decision as the sun set on Tumwater Valley Pool. Capital was well represented in regionals with Karen Funkhouser, divingg Brenda Bennatts, 100 freeg Pam Hamlin, 200 IM and 100 Breastg Mary Pickett, 100 and 200 freeg Janet Taylor, 50 and 100 freeg 400 freestyle relay team and 200 medley relay team. Capital finished ninth in the meet sending Karen Funkhouser and Pam Hamlin as State qualifiers. Mary Pickett received the inspirational awardg Pam Hamlin and Janet Taylor were co-Winners of most out- standing honors and Karen Funkhouseser received most improved. 1. Kristi Hirsch 2.
