Coming together is a beginning'- Cheerleading tryouts begin and end after days of intense practicing and hopeful dreaming, the Hnal day arrives and the most talented girls are chosen. Keeping together is progress - Now they must join together and create a goal for the year to come, always working on new ideas and showing growing enthusiasm. Through a chaotic den of creative minds at work, advisor Judy Shannon and the staff try to put out a paper on a regular basis. The processing of material starts in the minds of writers. After breaking the deadline by several days, the copy is typed, and then panic really sets in. Mrs. Shannon, layout editor Carole Caine, and copy editor Joe Hardin spend a large amount of time and effort laying out the paper, putting in long hours on the weekends at the Olympia News. All this is directed at one thing: To produce a newspaper worthy of being read. The production staff takes over from then. Headed by Ron Morsett, the negatives are shot and developed, plates produced and then the presses are inked and ready to roll. ? :3?f'l 'awww I I x v b aw iv 0 -1 ,V N v 0 fi' is ca 3' v ' cf 1. 4, Aa, oe Q bo Q-X AN ,N woo aff' 3' 0 2' -Q Q, .QW L C' NN 6' .W 'I' QQ A0 be Oo' in Cf 'N QA ,ergo Q95 . f, . - - - , 4, of M- ef,vf:'1::-x 1 1 ' - -1- ,-xg, -, if ' YKQU f 1 Oi WX Anigkxx, qos oi 5iXcx-,X stars that wait, ' And vlaxkuvg, never dose, but seek me dawn. The above picture typifies what all of us on the staff have felt at one time or another as we put the annual together. For me, this has been an experience that can be expressed in many different ways, but mainly one of pride. . . that young people at many levels of experience can Work together to produce the Annual. Dorn Slosson, Advisor Those Were The Days -Gene Raskin Once upon a time there was a tavern, where we used to raise a glass or two. Remember how we laughed away the hours and dreamed of all the great things we would do? Chorus: Those were the days, my friends, we thought they'd never endg We 'd sing and dance forever and a day. We 'd live the life we choose, We 'd Hght and never lose, For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la la la la la la la la la. Those were the da ysg Oh, yes those were the days. Then the busy years went rushing by us, We lost our starry motions on the way. If by chance I'd see you in the tavern we 'd smile at one another and we'd say: Chorus: Just tonight I stood before the tavern, Nothing seemed the way it used to be. In the glass I saw a strange reflection. Was that lonely fellow really me? Chorus: Through the door there came familiar laughter. I saw your face and heard you call my name. Oh, my friend, we 're older but no wiser, for in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
