CLASS HISTORY Again we as seniors of Capeville Elementary School wish to leave a memory of our past with our fellow classmates. We have spent six helpful and happy short years here. We spent the first year in the small schools before consolidation. Into these short years we have crowded many many experiences. We are now leaving our dear Elementary School days to go to the high school to continue our education, hoping to become successful citizens of America. In the fall of 1946,we entered Capeville Elementary School as second grade pupils. We came from Little Salisbury, Cheriton, Fairview, Dalbys, Capeville, and Townsend. During that year our teachers were, Mrs. Helm and Mrs. Stevens. A short time after school opened we were happy to welcome Mrs. Emma Joynes and her pupils from Little Salisbury School. The following year we again changed teachers. We found ourselves in rooms eight and eleven. We most cordially welcomed a new faculty member Mr. G. T. Allen, whom we have learned to love and depend on in many ways. During the next two years we passed on to the next grades, we changed teachers, we joined clubs, we grew bold and more sure of ourselves, and last but not least we welcomed the return of Mr. G. T. Allen, who had transferred to the Hare Valley School. We also welcomed to our fold, Mrs. Bragg, Miss Hanshaw, Miss Coston, and Miss Smaw. Then came the year of the sixth grade. We found ourselves again in Sirs. Helm’s room and in Mrs. Fitchett’s room. We considered ourselves as aeing very fortunate to have these two ladies as our teachers, but when we thought of the work that they had planned for us to do, we just sighed, lowever, things moved on and we sailed into the harbor very smoothly. We forked hard to foster all of the school activities. We gave what monetary lupport that we could. We boys played basket ball and soft ball. We girls heered loudly for the boys. We worked unusually hard to promote the May ueen drive. However, we lost to Miss Margaret Kay Helm of the second grade, pupil of Mrs. Annie S. Bibbins. We congratulated Mrs. E. S. Helm for obtaining her B. S. degree in lucation in the summer of 1950. We extended the same congratulations the )ar before to our Principal, Mr. C. E. Arnold, who received the Master of

CLASS HISTORY CONTINUED Science degree and to Mrs. Annie S. Bibbins, who received the Bachelor of Science degree. The grand finale has now come. We are full fledged seniors. We think back over the last two years of our Elementary School life and career. We have, no doubt, had hard knocks and bumps, but we have enjoyed each year as we will never enjoy any future years. This being our senior and last year, we have had the most enjoyable year of all. We wanted an Annual and we have one. We worked hard and we are happy, for we did it willingly. Hats off! to Miss Coston and members of the program committee for having patience with us. We, this year, do thank all of the teachers for their kind¬ ness and understanding. Now we must and want to say that we would and could not have attained this great height if it had not been for the wonderful parents, principal, and teachers along our way who have encouraged us and helped us with un¬ tiring strength.
