1 Some of the SGA activities this year included; the “Spring Fling” held in May at Hugh MacCrae Park, the Hot Dog Roast and the elections of SGA officers held on Campus in the fall. Although each SGA activity involved many hours of planning and hard work, it proved to be time well spent. 15

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT In a time of soaring inflation and ever increasing unemployment, technical schools must make sure that they are providing well-planned, sound programs in the technologies, the sciences, the trade skills, and the related areas that make all skills work. We must provide all of the important support functions whether the need involves money, space, superior instruction, or sophisticated equipment. Our students must be given the opportunity to develop their career = plans and carry them forward to employment. Industry and business requires, and demands, an employee who is highly motivated and better trained than were the past generation of employees. Methods of production and products have reached a level of technology that few of us dreamed of only a few years ago. At Cape Fear Tech I think that we have been most fortunate in assembling a dedicated and superior group of people who, with the support of Industry, the community, and our state government, have been able to provide you, the students, with the background to be successful in almost anything you attempt. Our graduates have been well-accepted by employers in the past, and we are proud of them. Your opportunity is here, and I am sure you will work hard to gain the knowledge you need. We want you to succeed and to be the finest group of graduates we have ever had. 14

SGA HOT DOG ROAST The Fall Quarter SGA Hotdog Roast was a big success! The Me- morial Park proved to be an ideal spot to hold it in, and the weather- man was extra kind to us, providing us with a perfect day for socializing. Everyone enjoyed the food and in- formality of the occasion. Even faculty and staff members showed their enthusiasm by eating their fair share! c I T 16
