TIME FOR REST CFTi students and faculty take time out for relaxation in many forms. Some of them go out for a breath of fresh air, others need a nap, and still others find relaxation by playing a game of Chess with friends.

The three people you are most likely to see around campus are Shirley King, Receptionist for student Affairs, Larry Nissen, Security Officer, and Ann Levins, who takes care of the grounds. You’re also apt to see Mr. Bright talking to students about the school newspaper, or Ms. Rea-Poteat going around school taking pictures for the yearbook: and if you pop your head into room S-114 you might see the Annual staff hard at work!

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT In a time of soaring inflation and ever increasing unemployment, technical schools must make sure that they are providing well-planned, sound programs in the technologies, the sciences, the trade skills, and the related areas that make all skills work. We must provide all of the important support functions whether the need involves money, space, superior instruction, or sophisticated equipment. Our students must be given the opportunity to develop their career = plans and carry them forward to employment. Industry and business requires, and demands, an employee who is highly motivated and better trained than were the past generation of employees. Methods of production and products have reached a level of technology that few of us dreamed of only a few years ago. At Cape Fear Tech I think that we have been most fortunate in assembling a dedicated and superior group of people who, with the support of Industry, the community, and our state government, have been able to provide you, the students, with the background to be successful in almost anything you attempt. Our graduates have been well-accepted by employers in the past, and we are proud of them. Your opportunity is here, and I am sure you will work hard to gain the knowledge you need. We want you to succeed and to be the finest group of graduates we have ever had. 14
