McCain The quartermasters are the primary source of navigation for the Cape Cod. They lay tracks, take w eather observa- tions and keep electronic equipment on line. They also do celestial naviga- tion. The QM ' s navigated the ship through IRAQPAC and brought the ship safely into all ports.
