Smith Division Officer The maintenance and proper operation and handling of CAPE COD's 15 small boats and four cranes are the responsibility of Third Division. Used around the clock for material and personnel transfer, picket duty, and garbage runs, the boats and cranes require constant tending to ensure there is no deterioration from the saltwater environment of the open boat deck.
