First Division personnel, and all of Deck Department, also account for a large portion of our underway watch standers, responsible for such watch stations as port and starboard lookouts, helmsman, boatswain's mate of the watch, messengers and maintaining the status board. sEcoND Division D1!D2 4ll HTENDING THE LIFELINES TO HOME D1lD2 functions as an integral unit with one Leading Petty Officer, one Leading Chief, and one Division Officer. They are responsible for conducting all deck evolutions except boat 8l crane ops. D1!D2 is our lifeline to home on deployment as they provide most of the personnel for flight quarters and underway replenishment, ensuring the safe arrival of our most valuable cargo-mail! The helos also provide for rapid delivery and return of ship- to-shop repair jobs, a direct contribution to CAPE COD's main mission. D1!D2 provides all linehandlers to enable ships to come alongside for faster repair service. In between these frequent, time-consuming tasks, D1!D2 works long hours to preserve the physical conditon of the ship-painting, painting, and more painting!
