His decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V and gold star for second award, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four campaign stars, the Humanitarian Service Medal and various other unit, campaign medals and ribbons. I He is married to the former Nora Szarkowicz of Long Beach, California, and they have two childreng a son, LTJG Mark C. Johnson, USN, presently serving aboard USS CARON jDD970j and a daughter, Heather Ann, a junior at Texas A 8. M University.
