He brought with him enthusiasm, devotion to sports, and an interest in the total school pro- gram. This teacher is known by all of us, but little is known about him. Mr. Preston attended the Paintsville High School in Paintsville, Kentucky. He continued his education at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education. For relax- ation, Coach Preston enjoys jogging, fishing, and playing chess. He is mar- ried and is the father of an infant daughter. We, the senior class, would like to dedicate the 1972-73 ARROW to Mr. James Preston. This is our way of say- ing Thanks to a really fine person who has devoted many, many hours to coach- ing football, basketball, and baseball. Coach James M. Preston DEDICATION 3 4 THEME Now Now is where we are. It is about each of us, unique individuals actively questioning, exploring, and learning. It is about our world and our involvements and concerns with it. It is the present, a 1 i v i n g and expanding time ... It is now. Let us look at the people involved in the now generation who are dressed differently, talk differently, play and study differently in the '72- '73 ARROW. Sally Mitchell Literary Editor 9 Now Is Leading To the Class of 1973 The Class of '73 has many fine qualities and tal- ents that can be used to make their communities grow. Many of the students have already helped to make their school abetter school by contributing their services. Upon graduation your obligations and responsibilities don’t stop - they are just beginning. All problems and pressures don't end when you re- ceive a high school diploma. The only way to help solve the problems and pressures of the day is to work on them daily. The Class of '73 has the abilities and knowledge to help solve the problems of today so tomorrow will be brighter. I challenge each graduate to try to make his community and country a better place in which to live. This challenge will not become a reality un- til you become actively involved by helping with your varied talents and abilities. Mr. Berkley E. It Is Not Even the Beginning of the End. It Is Rather the in Acknowledgemen t As editor of the 1973 ARROW, I would like to give my special thanks to all those persons who made this yearbook a success: To TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY for printing our yearbook and their repre- sentative, Mr. Dan DeFalco, whose patience and understanding were an asset to our yearbook. To the FACULTY, ADMINISTRATION, and STUDENT BODY for their coopera- tion and friendship. To MARTHA BULL, KIM BARBAN, and WARD'S STUDIO for their excellent photography work. To the ADVERTISERS for their interest and support (without them there would be no yearbook). To the STAFF, especially to the advertising managers, for their cooperation, kindness, patience, and willingness to work, which made the ARROW possible. And my special thanks go to MRS. JUANITA M. WORSLEY for her patience, assistance, guidance, kindness, and devotion throughout the whole year. I, as editor, have enjoyed every minute of preparing a successful ARROW for 1973. I'm sure that the staff feels the same way. So NOW, the 1972-73 ARROW STAFF says farewell! Betty Etz, Editor
