Smith At the crossroads you must choose; Only one road you can take; You your way may find or lose, But you must decision make. One road leads to wealth and fame Places you on glory’s height. But before you choose the same, Think, be careful! It is right? Then another path you see Looks so smooth, and Tong its way Pretty flowers seem to be Ever blooming night and day. You behold a life of ease; Ah, no battles here to fight; But this question, if you please. Must be answered: Is it right? If you see a well-marked road With your path to duty plain, Where men totter 'neath the load From too heavy stress and strain. Where you need to lend a hand That their burdens may be light. ScAoof September 5 October 28 November 14 December 5 January 24 February 26 March 11 April May 11 June 4 Today I welcomed a new class of Seniors. They are the students walking around with stars in their eyes - heads held high. They are the ones who, even though they look completely at ease, are feel- ing a little lost as they realize they are the oldest students. No longer do they have a class to look up to; now they are the class looked up to. Today was Senior Trip Day: a trip given by Mr. Burrus to the Sen- iors. This only heightens the sense that they have at last reached that grand and glorious year. Today after the Seniors returned from attending College Day, I did a little eavesdropping. I listened to the Seniors discussing their plans for the future. They seemed very excited about entering new schools and exciting jobs, but they also sounded just a little fearful. I have no fears for them; the young are very brave. C. C.H.S. '62 is what the Seniors are wearing, as their class pins ar- rived today. Hurray! Exams are finally over and things are beginning to calm down, on the outside, that is. The Seniors realize that half of the year is gone and they haven't much longer before they don caps and gowns and make their march down the aisle. Don’t let their air of non- chalance fool you. Deep down inside they are quite jittery about the thought of leaving the halls that have given them so many mem- ories. Today was Senior Day. With his personal slave each Senior marched around giving orders and having the underclassmen obey. The Seniors had the exciting thrill of being measured for caps and gown. Now they know that the big day is really near! The Seniors are really preparing for Graduation. They have ordered caps, gowns, and invitations. Now they just count the days until they actually live the day they have worked toward for twelve years. Tonight is Prom Night. The Seniors are a little more excited than the rest of the students. The theme and decorations are a mystery which the Seniors will solve tonight when they, dressed in bows and lace, enter the gym for their last dance as a student at C. C.H.S. Last night was graduation. Once more I bid good-bye to a class that I have seen through twelve years of learning, fun and laughter. Each year I hate to see my Seniors leave. I know that even though they go with hearts full of joy and hope, they also hate to part. Though I say good-bye to them with sadness, I say it with pride and the knowledge that they are a class deserving of the praise WELL DONE! We have spent five years filled with work, happiness, and disappointments with our friends and teachers at C.C.H.S. Thanks to the teachers for their guidance and understand- ing in the past years. To our schoolmates whom we must leave be- hind we wish to say that these years will bring to you some of the most wonderful experiences of your life. You will someday don your cap and gown and know the grand and glorious feeling that comes from being seniors. Until then, get everything you can out of school. There is much to receive - not only the knowledge you get from your books, but also the memories of exciting ballgames and glamorous dances. These you will take with you for the rest of your life. With these thoughts we say FAREWELL, and wish to you all the best of luck. TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY •Tk Worttf.
