How do I know what friendship is? I know because you are my friend, and you are all these things. _ Anonymous HOMECOMING ROYALTY This year, Home- coming took place from October 19 to October 23. It was a funfilled week, which consisted of many events that everyone was encouraged to participate in. A week before Home- coming, students were chosen to represent each class. These students were: 12th grade - Kim Downey, Geraldine Feldhus, Col- leen Green, Julie Hayden, Dorothy Lewis, Paul Hop- kins, Andy Radvansky, Bill Smith, Doug Stroman and Joe Zelecki. 11th Grade - Leah White- head and Curt Dean. 10th Grade - Noreen Malburg and Eric Zorn. 9th Grade - Jodi Leonard and Tim Campbell. Homecoming Court - K. Downey, D. Lewis, C. Green, G. Feldhus, 8th Grade -Billy Jo J. Hayden, A. Radvansky, J. Zelecki, B. Smith, D. Stroman, Kazyaka and Ken Potzyka. P. Hopkins. Elememtary school - Jodi Remenap and George Emmie. During the week, the classes competed in many contests, to gain points toward winning the spirit jug. They inclu ded, dress-up week and a yelling contest which took place at the bon fire before the J.V. Football game. On Thursday, the National Honor Society members did a skit entitled, The Day Before Homecoming , for the Elementary and Middle school kids. Also, the cheerleaders did a dance routine, and taught the kids a few cheers. That night, the cheerleaders put on a sphagetti din- ner for the football players, their parents and the coaches. Friday was the big day, and many events took place. The NHS members dressed up as clowns, and sold balloons to the Elementary and 10 A MOMENT OF GLORY 10th Grade - Noreen Malburg, Eric Zorn. 11th Grade - Leah Whitehead, Curt Dean. 8th Grade - Billie Jo Kazyaka, Ken Potyczka. 9th Grade - Jodi Leonard, Tim Campbell. Middle school kids, until it was time for the pep assembly. The classes com- peted in contests such as the tricycle race, the pie eating contest, the three legged race, and a yelling contest, to win points to- ward the spirit jug. That night, the var- sity football team played Dryden, and won 48—0. It was the first Homecoming game won by Capac in sev- en years! At halftime, the representatives were escorted onto the field by their parens, and Andy Radvansky and Colleen Green were crowned King and Queen. The Seniors were announced as winners o ' +he spir.i‘ jug. After the game, the Homecoming dance was held from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. in the Elementary school. So here the story of Homecoming ends. Lang Coach Dale Privette After winning the S.T.A. crown with an impressive 16-1 record, the golf team advanced to the state finals with a second place finish at the Class C Regional in Lexington The golfers went on to finish 15th out of 21 teams at the state meet held at Kalamazoo. Senior Brian Sieggreen, who was the top golfer in the S.T.A. and an All-Blue Water Area selection for the third straight year, led the chiefs to the league title and their strong finish at Regionals. Sieggreen won MVP for the fourth straight year, as he scored in every match this season. He claimed medalist honors at the Eastern Michigan Invitational and League Meet and placed third at the Marlette Super Saturday. Seniors Jeff Leonard (second team S.T.A.) and John Lang, Junior Tim Quain (second team S.T.A ), and sophomore Tony Snow all contributed in the Chiefs ' quest. Coach Privette won Coach of the Year honors in the S.T.A., for the second straight year, and All-Blue Water Area. The Boy ' s Cross Country team finished 7th in the State Regionals and sent two runners to the State Finals. Sophomore Craig Lohmann, an All-Blue Water Area se- lection and team M.V.P., earned 602 varsity points Senior John Lottie was right behind with 574 varsity points Lohmann and Lottie both went to the state finals finish- ing 58th and 60th, respectively. Junior Dan Rinke did very well early in the season and Kevin Jamison was one of the top freshmen runners in the area. The Girls Cross Country team sent three harriers to the State Finals and finished 5th at Regionals. Senior Debbie Wheelihan, an All-Blue Water Area selection finished 51st at the state meet. Two juniors were very valuable this year. Team M.V.P. junior Connie Hilla led the team with 498 varsity points and finished 57th at the state meet. A. with a 10-2Heague record and won the District Championship with a 39-19 victory over Memphis under first-year coach Bob Abraham Losing its only two games to top-rated Brown City, the Chiefs won 18 games After winning the Districts with victories over Armada and Memphis the girls lost in the Regional ' to tough Alien Park Cabrini. Senior Monica 1 ranckowiak was the top offensive play- er with the third best scoring average in the area. 16.3 points per game. Junior Bridget Bohr, not only averaged 13.3 points per game tenth best in the area, was the top defensive plaver in Coach Abraham ' s mind. Junior Danme Jurn ' s balanced scoring, heads up defense and court awareness and leadership made her the team ' s Most Valuable Player. Senior Vicky Pykosz, Juniors Michele Wages and Cheron Frye and Sophomore Lori Hannon were valuable assets for the team ' s 18-3 overall record. With a 2-5 Southern Thumb Association finish, the Var- sity Football team ended with its best league record in five years under first year coach Steve Kamidoi. Ken Campbell had a team high 502 years and 5TD ' s rushing with All-League half back Bill Smith right behind with 368 yards. Junior Mark Carroll, who was voted MVP by his teammates, not only rushed for 348 yards and passed for 180 more also ended the season as one of the top punters in the area. Junior quarterback Scott Glaombowski completed 30 passes for 270 yards. All League tackle Steve Aguinaga and the rest of the offen- sive line allowed our runners to gain over 1,300 yards this season. Seniors Jeff Ferrett and Kelly Modad both All-League choices, anchored a fine defensive unit Ferrett, who inter- cepted 5 passes; was tied for the league lead in that cate- gory. Modad ' s versatility and leadership qualified him for the selection. Seniors Mike Fournier, Dereck Phillips and Dan Spencer and Junior Harvey Pratt were vital parts of I the defense. He is the high school resource teacher and teaches ail subjects grades 10-12. Mrs. Sheila Myron - Junior High Resource teacher, Mrs. Sheila Myron would like to return to Paris, because she says it ' s a very exciting city . Mrs. Myron, who enjoys to ski and play tennis, has a B.A. from Michigan State. EXPLORING THE 36 Miss Kathleen Kish - Miss Kathleen Kish ' s idea of the perfect vacation would be to climb to the summit of Mt. Whitney by moonlight to watch the sunrise. Miss Kish, who teaches all the agriculture classes, is the FFA advisor and manages the Girls softball team with Miss Redding. Miss Kish has a B.S. from Mich. State. Mr. David Yuung - Girls track and volleyball coach, Mr. Young teaches a varety of science subjects in- cluding independent Physics, General Biology and Biology 1, 11, and 111. Mr. Young has a B.S. in Biology from Wayne State. Asked if he had a choice to live any- place in the world, Mr. Young replied, I would like to live in Disney World, then I would only have to see the Capac Seniors, once a year. WORLD AROUND US Mr. Fred Hunt - Anywhere that is warm and dry f 90 percent of the year, is where Mr. Hunt, Chemistry and Freshmen Science teacher wou ld like to be right now. The Girls and Boys cross- country coach, Mr. Hunt, has a B.S. from East Tennessee University. Mr. Donald Clark - I have visited all the states except Alaska and Hawaii, it would be enjoyable to make it an even 50 states, said counselor and Science 8 teacher Mr. Donald Clark.
