The best race hasn’t been run, The best score hasn’t been made yet, The best song hasn’t been sung. No chance? Why 7 the world is just eager for things that you ought to create. It yearns for more power and beauty More laughter and love and romance. More loyalty, labor, and duty. No chance-why, there’s nothing but chance. For the best verse hasn’t been rhymed yet, The highest peak hasn’t been climbed yet. Don’t worry and fret, faint-hearted. The chances have just begun. 3 4 5 The future lies buried within the vitality and development of my mind and heart and both need the refinement of time and the acquiring of knowledge to nurture them. Everything .learned I must amass and bud Id upon to ' create the basis for today and the key for unlocking tomorrow . Author Unknown 6 8 9 10 In working together , the many I ' s become one and we form a community, possessing the potential to step forward with our aspirations and lessons from the past in tow. So do we also, however, have the power to frustrate those steps and linger in a past of insensitive dreams. We have the choice of seeking out the future ar.d its fate lies totally within our ability to advance both as individuals and together . Author Unknown 12 A footprint in the sand , a smudge on the wall , a numbered piece of paper — I exist . And yet, not from a number nor an insignia do I live, but rather from a compulsion vhich hurls me forward with a power no confining badge could ever arrest What I am today is in- spired by the past , and I am today what tomorrow can be.
