Mrs, Jonkman Mrs. Bernice Leslie BUSINESS-THE BLOOD OF NATIONS Business training is offered to our students through courses in General Business, Sales and Law, Personal Typing, Typing I, Bookkeeping, Business Skills, and Office Education. Freshmen may pursue a course in typing and the following year enroll in general business, or they may begin their typing as sophomores. All other courses are offered to juniors and seniors except for office education which is designed for seniors interested in office employment or further study in business colleges. Business skills and office education, courses tailored in a business setting to provide experiences in various disciplines required in a business office, are two new offerings implement- ed into this year ' s curriculum. Here students are improving previously learned skills as well as gaining new experiences in the use of various office machines. Eighth grade learns basic skills. Better facilities are possible in the relocatable units. Mr. Arden Nickerson 6 THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY H R BLOCK

FROM ARITHMETIC TO CALCULUS Mr. Donald Christie Mrs. Carol Crake Mr. Ken Montgomery This is really very simple. In 1957, when Sputnik first aroused America to the need for better scientific training, the mathematics program in Capac High School was limited to about four level, some taught only in alter- nate years. Now seven different levels of math- ematics are offered every year. There are eleven classes with almost half the students in grades 9-12 enrolled in a class. Three teachers are employed part time in this department. The classes offered are general math, Introductory Algebra I and II, Algebra I and II, geometry, and Senior Math. Through this program, every student is offered the opportunity to take as many years of mathematics as his needs require. Some may stop with a competency in general math and others may continue through four years until they are prepared for college cal- culus. Geometrics-leamlng by doing.
