Capac, Michigan SBr - l  A PAGE OF OUR LIVES This year is but a page of our lives. The great book of life has many chapters; each chapter is filled with times of hap- piness, times of sorrow, times of achieve- ment, times of disappointment the list is endless - extending from childhood to ma- turity. We can leaf through the past chapters and recall warm memories; but, most im- portant of all, we can review our experi- ences and learn valuable lessons. These reviews will aid us in passing life’s test in the future. Many more chapters are yet to be added. Upon graduation, each Senior will begin a new one; the underclassmen are rapidly reaching this time also. This past year is only a small portion of this book, but it is an important portion. To the students, the faculty, and the ad- ministration, it has been a year of learn- ing, success, prosperity, and enjoyment. To our foreign exchange students, Josien and Olof, we hope it has been very en- joyable year; for we have enjoyed having them. Beyond a doubt, this year has surely marked a page of our lifes. —The Staff THIS PAGE SPONSORED BV MICHIGAN PEAT , A DIVISION OF BAY TOWING COMPANY COMMUNITY BOARD OF EDUCATION Mr. Norman Brennan, President Mr. Robert Markwart, Secretary Mr. Robert Lumbardo, Treasurer Mr. James Clark, Trustee Mr. Gilbert Parks, Trustee Mr. Howard A. We began the year Secretary by taking first place with our Homecoming float and won the spirit jug. Reigning as Queen of the Homecoming was Alice Ahler and as honorary Prince and Princess, Olof Halbert and Josien Arens, our two exchange students. The Seniors ' next big activity was the Christmas Ball. Fred Foley and Paula Palmateer reigned as King and Queen of this gala Winter Wonderland event. This class chose the yellow rose as their flower and green and white as their colors. We are now looking forward to a boat cruise for our skip day and a graduation night party at the Motor Inn. I left quite a few jealous friends , brothers and sisters behind when I finally, with a hundred other Dutch and German exchange students, de- parted from Amsterdam to the United States. The time I have spent here so far certainly has gone by too fast. I must say that life here is different from what I had expected, but is cer- tainly is just as good as I had expected. Espe- cially the schoollife differs entirely from the Dutch schools which I have attended. There also is much more schoolspirit here, real school- spirit is hard to find in a Dutch school com- munity, and I will certainly miss the excite- ment at our schoolgames and pep rallies once I am back in the Netherlands. I have learned a lot about America and the Americans by the subjects I am taking at school and my association with my family, teachers, and friends. I am grateful to all of them for the help they gave me during the first time that I was here. By now I really can say that I love this country and its population and I shall do all I can to make it possible to return someday to Michigan ' s Water-Wonderland where I have found such a fine and good second home and so many good friends. Olof Halbert When I am writing this I ' ve got another 6 months in the promised land with, I know, a lot of more wonderful experiences. The thing I gained more ofhereinthe U.S. was weight. I can also mention better English, lots of really nice friends, and, of course, I learned a lot of basketball ! What I liked here in C.H.S. is the very good relations between teacher an$ pupil. All of the teachers have been very nice and understanding with different problems I ' ve had. My special thanks to Mr. Spencer, the best principal I ' ve ever had. An- other thing I like is all the school activities. In Sweden we haven ' t got anything like this. It helps the pupils to develop further in dif- ferent ways. The school-spirit of C.H.S. is wonderful. All the kids are coming to see the blue and gold win, and I know that it keeps the players going. About the U.S. I can say that it ' s a really great nation, with great people. One can ' t meet a more friendly people and there are a lot of people who have done a lot for me. This is especially true of my American mother, Mrs. Fischer, who I want to thank officially this way. I know I ' m coming back to the U.S. and hope that I ' ll meet some of you then, or why not, you can come to see me in Skutskar (Sweden.) Til then, So long! THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY DR. Our float with the theme Eve of Destruction took second place. As the Christmas holidays drew near, the Juniors were all excited about the Christmas Ball. Julie Markwart and Larry Stegman were chosen to represent our class at the Ball as Princess and Prince. The new year brought plans for a busy second semester. The Junior Play was begun and should be ready in March. Success is the word for Cheaper by the Dozen. The Junior Prom promises fun and hard work for the Juniors. The Freshmen started out the year with the election of class officers and school representatives. We then plunged headlong into selling magazines for the school maga- zine sale. Our class reached the highest percentage of money on the school quota. We were very proud when our float, Wipe Out , won third place in the judging on Homecoming Day. Christmas proved rather festive as our class chose Kathy Honsinger and Dick Hunter as our Princess and Prince for the annual Christmas Ball. The Sophomores gave us a Freshman Initiation Dance, and we gratefully repaid with a Sophomore Appreciation Dance. Our work will continue with the coming of the Spring C arnival and the closing of school for the summer months. Next year we will come back a year older and a grade higher -all ready to fill another page of our lives. 42 this page sponsored by CAPAC FARMER ' S ELEVATOR Jim Abraham Joe Aguinaga Paul Aguinaga Mike Alexander Joe Ambrose Karen Archer Linda Bailor Tony Bautista Dale Behnke Dennis Behnke Jeff Beischer Ron Bieganowski Diane Bliss Victor Bodanyi Chris Bradley Geneal Brooks Rita Brunelle Joyce Bullock Patty Carpenter Chalo Comacho Mary Copeland Don Cook Nancy Czerepowicz Virginia Davey Dan Davila David Davila David Dawe Larry Dell Chris Doutry Linda Downey Cherith Drugich Sharon Engel Rhonda Fleming Leo Foster Robert Friedsberg Diane Fuller David Garza Art Garza Ted Ginn Dawn Gottschalk Annette Granc Kathy Graybiel THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY DR. We started by welcoming our class sponsors and by electing new class officers and class representatives. We were right in the swim of things in the magazine sale, and as the youngest class in the school this year, we did a pretty good job of selling subscriptions. Who else but the eighth graders would think of having a float on a float for their entry in the Homecoming activities ? No one else probably would have thought of it, but we did. King of the Road , our entry, turned out to be a lot of fun for everyone involved in making it and everyone who saw it. Our first semester fun night was a ball, and everybody is looking forward to the one that we ' ll be having next semester. After Gordon Bade, Student Coun- cil president, welcomed the new members, the group plunged headlong ihto work. The Student Council, as in the past, sponsored two exchange students in the Capac area: Josien Arens from Holland and Olof Halbert from Sweden. Everyone was very active in the annual magazine sale that the Student Council spon- sored, and it again brought in a great deal of money to be spent for scholarships and community betterment projects. The Student Council has been busy away from home, too. We have taken a very active part in the League Student Council by at- tending the meetings, sponsoring the meet- ings in our school, and by sponsoring a League Student Council dance at C.H.S. Each classroom in the new elementary school will have an American flag thanks to the Student Council which took charge of purchasing these for the school. We are looking forward to the Spring Carnival with a great deal of anticipation, and we hope will also be a success. Our club is basically a service club for our school , and our main job is taking tickets at our home basketball and football games. We also have different poster committees to help improve our school. Our big event of the year was our spring induction ceremony. It was held on March 2, 1967, in our high school auditorium, This ceremony was to induct our new members in our society for the coming year. We can say this has been a highly suc- cessful year for our society. 54 THIS PAGE sponsored by CAPAC CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY FUTURE TEACHERS CLUB The Future Teachers Club opened this year with 53 members and a new sponsor, Mr. Stewart. The officers elected were: Kay Clark, president; Paula Palmateer, vice- president; Nancy Sanderson, secretary; Camille Eldridge, treasurer; Juliann Marlcwart, reporter; Jan Honsinger, student council representative; and Glenda Schook, historian. In October Mr. Seeley took us on a tour through Michigan State University. On December 21, our club gave a Christ- mas party for the faculty and the alumni. Cadet teaching began with a speech by Dr. Bruce Cheney of M.S.U. In the near future, we are planning another trip to Washington, and a joint meeting with Dryden ' s Future Teachers Club. At the present, we are attempting to revise our constitution so that in the future all of the business will be taken care of in meetings of officers only. 55 this PAGE sponsored Bv CAPAC FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA FUTURE NURSES CLUB The Future Nurses Club held their first meeting of the year on September 28, 1966. Elections of officers took place with the fol- lowing positions held; president, Camille Eldridge; vice-president, Debbie Jurn; sec- retary, Rhonda Ryder; treasurer. Candle Warvie; reporter, Carol Hawks; historian, Sally Feldus; student council representa- tive, Mary Wallace. Throughout the year we have had a number of speakers. Activities of the club have included such things as working at health clinics and Yale Hospital, the booth at the Spring Carnival, and bake sales. None of this would be possible if it were not for the help and time our sponsors, Mrs. Carl Lang and Mrs. Kahn, have given us. 56 this page sponsored by CAPAC FUTURE NURSES CLUB FUTURE HOMEMAKERS CLUB The Future Homemakers of America have had a very successful year. We began our year with the initiation of our new mem- bers. We had a hot dog roast in the back of the school. We also had a tobbagonning party and afterwards went to Mrs. Parker ' s house. Our Christmas party was quite a success. We exchanged gifts and played games. We had our candlelight ceremony in which we inducted new members by having each one of them read one of the purposes of FHA. Many of the girls participated in the joint FF A and FHA Fair this year. We give trophies for the first three top point holders. The trophies are donated by Jim Glombowski. We are having a speaker, Father Joseph Melton, come to speak to us on morals and manners. We are going to make tray favors for the Lapeer Home this Easter again. We still have our State Convention to look forward. This was done to encourage the farmers in the area to control the rodents. The selling of cider was another money- making project. To make some money for the chapter we sold some garden seeds. Each member who sold $10 worth of seeds would go to a hamburger supper. The FFA banquet is our next activity. Funks is sponsoring a banquet for Ed Rodzos for two reasons. He was the highest in corn production in Michigan and was also in the Funks project.
