■m THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS That was the year that started with our al- ready crowded condition becoming even more crowded with the addition of several new students. Even as this condition was with us, we could see in the future, by viewing the erection of the new elementary school, the time when room will not be our foremost problem, but rather when the availability of space will enable us to put into practice many new and improved programs that have been recommended and discussed during recent years. Yes, that was the year when Capac High School viewed the present with one eye and the future with the other. STEPHEN HAYDEN PRINCIPAL IT ' S BEEN A GREAT YEAR! The 1965-66 school year will be recorded in the pages of history as one of the most productive for the Capac Community Schools educational system. It ' s a year in which many projects were started that will have a lasting affect on educational opportuni- ties of the area. Major projects and activities undertaken by the district this year include: 1. The sale of bonds and the beginning of con- struction of the new Capac Elementary School. 2. The employment of a Director of Special Education Services through a cooperative program with Yale and Memphis. 3. Participation in a County Wide study of vocational education needs in St. Clair County. 4. The employment of a Curriculum Coordina- tor and an expanded guidance program for grades K-12. 5. Installation of a new heating system in the old elementary building. 6. Participation in a County Wide study to determine the feasibility of expanding Port Huron Junior College to a county community college. Yes, it ' s been a great year because much time and effort was spent this year planning to make future years even greater. Henry David Thorean said it, this way, I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor.
