In the fall, we came in first on the magazine sale, almost tripling our quota. At Homecoming, our float tied for second place, and our class won the Spirit Jug for showing the most school spirit. The Christmas Ball was our main project for December. Two seniors, Diane Treece and Ron Scott, were elected princess and prince of the Ball. Since the beginning of the year, we have had several money-making projects. These included operating the Car-Wash and taking over the Root Beer Stand for a week end. At present, the class is selecting their class motto, flowers, and colors. We are also busily planning for graduation and looking forward to it very much. THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY DR. In October, we entered a float in the Homecoming P arade. We were very fortunate in our magazine sales, as we sold our quota. Recently, our Jr. High Basketball team, the Wee Chiefs, composed of 18 players, won the Capac Jr. High Basketball Tournament Championship held in Capac. We are very proud of our boys. We also intend to operate two booths at our annual Spring Carnival, to help the Foreign Exchange Student Program fund. We sincerely hope that our future years at C. H. The class was divided into 3 sections, and the election of class officers was held at the first class meeting. The first exciting event was the making of our Homecoming float. After working on our float we were happy to see it tie for 3rd place. During the magazine sale we were as busy as beavers. The top salesman was Lisa Sivec. Lisa sold $40.00 worth of magazines. In November we held our first fun night, another was planned for the second semester. The class decided to have a spelldown. It was held and Anita Phiel proved to be the best speller in our grade. Members of section 3 belong to the Junior Band. We have had many concerts in previous years, and are planning a concert in March. Members of sections 1 and 2 belong to our 4-H Club. They are studying Michigan mammals at the present time. We have also been busy dramatizing history skits. The Courtship of Miles Standish and Balboa have been presented. Our basketball team has had a very successful season. Jackie Anspaugh, Gwen Smith, Kathy Zwiernik, andCharoletteHulett were cheerleaders. At the Spring Carnival the class is planning on having the cakewalk, jail, and fortune- telling booths. After a busy and exciting year as seventh graders, we look forward to next year. Its members have worked very hard to make it most successful in the numerous projects and activities that they have taken on. United States and Michigan flags have been pruchased and placed in each room as a project of the council. An addition to the bleachers in the athletic field, and scholarship funds have been the direct result of an extremely successful magazine drive. Other activities included the annual Homecoming and several after-the game dances. The largest project of the year was the Spring Carnival. The proceeds from this provide much of the necessary funds to carry out the foreign exchange student program for the coming year. The Student Council sponsored two exchange students this year whose services to the school and community have greatly helped us to understand the customs and the way of living of other countries. With the interest and efforts of the community and school, the student exchange program has been very successful and worthwhile to the community and the exchnage student. THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY VIVIAN’S BEAUTY SH OP During the 1963- ' 64 school year, the Capac Chapter of the F. F. A. has been very active. The chapter once again performed a community service by parking cars at football games, and is trying to establish a better city park for the village of Capac. We continued to carry on with our experimental crop plots adjoining school property, seeking better results through better means, and raising different corn hybrids and varieties. Once again the chapter had a plowing and maneuvering contest, which was held at the Harlan Ryder farm. Maurice Callendar won the plowing contest, and there was a two-way tie for first in the maneuvering contest between William Essenburg and our foreign exchange student, Hans Fuller. For the second year, the chapter participated in farm forum, parlia- mentary procedure and public speaking contests. Members of the chapter have entered the Big Acre Contest, sponsored by Michigan Bean, where members try for higher yields through better practices. A banquet was held for the winners for the contest at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth. Joey Coucke placed among the highest in the top ten and 2nd in the State for wheat. Chapter members also participated in the Dekalb Contest and an Awards Banquet at Frankenmuth was offered to the winners. Bob Conrad, with a perfect score, was the winner of this contest. On February 20, we had our Annual Awards Banquet held in Capac High School, with the F.H.A. serving us. This year we announced two Honorary Chapter Farmers who weree- lected on their willingness to help the F.F.A. They were Harlan Ryder and Ray Tosch. We had numerous joint meetings with other interested groups. September 11, we took in the educational exhibits at the Saginaw Fair. We had a joint meeting with the Yale Chapter. This year we held a joint freshman initiation with the Almont Chapter. On October 16, Police Chief Earl Walker presented the chapter with a Gun Safety Program. Bob Conrad, Rodney Ryder, and Ed Rodzos represented the Capac Chapter at the National Convention held annually in Kansas City. Tom Gregson, Leo Wittstock and Hans Fuller rep- resented the chapter at the State Convention, March 24 through 26, held in East Lansing. March 6 and 7, the officers attended Regional Leadership Training Camp, held annually at Lakeport. For the first time in the chapter ' s history, we have a member from Germany, Hans Fuller. He will surely be missed next year by the F.F.A.
