She was selected by the members of the varsity football team. Other nominees included seniors Cherie McRoberts and Misty Knebusch. 20 Football Queen HOMECOMING Cathy Hildebrand Cathy Hildebrand was elected Canyon High School 1986 Homecoming Queen. Performing is Cathy's favorite thing, for she enjoys acting, working out, singing, dancing . . . in other words, being in front of a crowd! Cathy believes in honesty, communica- tion, and respect for others in all human relationships, plus at least twelve hugs a day! This is Cathy's philosophy and the one she strives to live, Cathy follows her rainbow! The 1986 Homecoming Court consisted of Lesa Svensson, Susan Estes, and Cherie McRoberts. All of these girls were very actively involved in many school related activities. Lesa was president of the senior class, a member of the Student Council, FTA, FHA, National Honor Society, as well as a cheerleader. Susan served CHS as a cheerleader her sophomore year, but traded her megaphone for a basketball and is a member of the girl's varsity basketball team. She has also been a member of the Student Council for two years. Cherie is vice-president of the Stu- dent Council, head varsity cheerleader, and a member of the Na- tional Honor Society. Middle row: Dendee Hutcherson, Ginger Sauer, Jenny Stevens. Front row: Sarah Ford, Barbara Blatzheim On Valentine's weekend many hearts were touched by the performance of the all-school play, Curious Savage. The crowd cheered as Ginger Sauer played the role of Mrs. Savage, an elder- ly lady who had been admitted to an in- sane asylum for giving away money. The audience raged at the characters of a wicked stepdaughter, played excellently by Jenny Stevens, a crooked senator, performed by Jerry Huffg and a wimpy judge, played by Rob Stevens. Credit must be given to those who characteriz- ed the roles of Mrs. Savage's compa- nions in the asylum. Dendee Hutcherson shocked the audience with her perfor- mance of a quiet but very negative Mrs. Patty. Gary Solomon kept the audience tuned with his role as a violinist. Barbara Blatzheim showed her sweet heart in the role of the motherly Florence. Sarah Ford brought laughter to the crowd in the part of Fairy and Wade Miller captured the audience's at- tention as a shy pianist who had been wounded in the soul during the war. Gwynne Labrie played the role of his wife, who was a nurse at the asylum. Gwynne's performance was very heart- warming as she saved the day at the conclusion of the show with the help of Brent Morgan, who played the doctor. After the Saturday night perfor- mance, a valentine's dance rattled the walls of the commons. The hand check turned out to say that the cast did a superb job!
