Nothing was more evident at Canyon High this year than spirit. lt has been, and always will be the root of all extra-curricular school activity. When speaking of this spirit, an underlying pres- ence can be sensed. Once, one might possibly have pictured images of yelping Comanche ln- dians galloping off on horseback, or a solemn ceremony where a member of the tribe is being honored. One way these images have remained is through legend. Present-day Comanches showed, this year, similar ' U ' UU in what they did and how they felt. Whether one was participating in the cheers of a crowd at a football game, or simply watching an assembly during school hours, one knew that there was more to the show than just smiles and laughter. Comanches show their spirit because it is in their blood. It is the substance from which all life at Canyon gains its energy. Canyon's spirit will al- ways be the shining light that guides Comanches into a world of their own. 1. Kathy Beatty, Denise Ingersoll, Vicki Avanzato, and Lori Scallon display their Comanche enthusiasm. 2. Spirit is impor- tant not only to julie Ballas, but to all Canyon students. 3. 50's kids Matt Lescault and Anita Duffy compete in the Fonzie and Pinky contest during Spirit Week. 4. Framed by an appropri- ately colored sunset are songleader Charleen Lescault and cheerleader Leslie Bell. 5. Coach Zeller smiles at Mr. Beven's attempt to become Homecoming Queen. 6. Colorful feathers mirror the bright spirit of the Comanche. 10
