Preparuig for L1f6 A higher percentage of students at Canyon have accepted the independent study program system. Students have been so highly in favor of the system that attendance and grades have risen tremen- dously. According to Mrs. Anderson, Lower qual- ity students tend to make better grades than they would on the normal course program. Students have also discovered that if they are not in any class, they can study in the library. If a student is having problems in an independent study course, then that student can put in more time with the part of the course that he or she is having problems with. The flexibility of scheduling business courses has made them highly desirable. Due to the high quality courses, students from CDO have been accepted into the business community. A Child Development class and Job's n Food course were new Home Eco- nomics classes. Child Development taught students how to treat and to take care of children. Job's n Food was a course designed to show students how to work in the fast food industry.
