The Canyon Del Oro speech team was rated first in the state of Arizona and the only speech team invited from Arizona to the pres- tigious UCLA invitational tournament. The club, which is a nonprofit organization, was headed by Mr. Weis- miller. There were several recycling drives held throughout the course of the year which provided the club with sufficient funds for transportation. At the ASU invitational, the CDO novice team of Eric Tasso and Michelle Briere took second place. Three out of the four teams from Canyon Del Oro also made it to quar- ter finals at ASU. 2 Speech! 1 89
