The Palau tir Sees Everythin if .K :, rl APS- Canyon del Oro's newspaper, the Palantir, again kept up it's reputation as one of the finest papers in the city. The publication, which came out once every three weeks, contained a special feature section, an editorial story, and a recap about Canyon's sport- ing events. The feature section, which is on a com- pletely different topic each issue, is completely left up to the imagination ofthe staff. Ms. Morgan, who returned as advisor in place of Charlie Beckner, felt that working on the Palantir was a lot of work but was fun, and that taking the one year absence to study iournalism made working on the Palantir that much easier. Scholarship, Leadership, Character The honor society was a club for iuniors and seniors who had achieved academic excellence and dis- played leadership and service. The prospective members had to maintain a 3.5 grade point aver- age in their solid subiects, be an active member ofa school club, and be recommended for membership by his or her teachers. If the student had these qual- ities, a faculty advisory board would decide if the student could ioin the club. The induction ceremony for the new members was held in November. The club, sponsored by Sam LoMaglio, handled the tutoring service for Canyon students. Funds for the club were raised through carwashes, bake sales, and the sponsoring of the iail at the Carnival del Oro. 3 Honor Society! l 83 .ln
