CLUB OFFICERS - Sitting ll. to r.l Maria Maldonado, Sponsor Mrs. Floberta Henderson, Susana Moreno, Lilia Ramos Rosa Acostag lStandingJ Sylvia Martinez, Enrique Morales, Dale Deckard, and Patsy Chavira. The Vocational Office Education class, some- times referred to as the Trailer People, is an active group of students joined by their common goal to prepare themselves for a better place in the job market. lt has a club called The Office Education Association, which is considered a part of the cur- riculum. The program is designed to simulate an office setting with students going about their various jobs. People can come into the trailer at anytime and find some students working with calculators, others taking dictation, some typing or using the transcription machines, others working on record- keeping or filing packets. The students set their own goals and it is up to them to fulfill them. The program naturally has to make money to supporttheir many activities. This year's activities included a carwash, the fashion show, and candy sales. Last year, the club sold name necklaces, conducted bake sales, and did the Popular Depart- ment Store inventory. More ideas are planned for next year. This year's class decided to have uniforms for the club. The girls were asked to come on stage at the area competitions because they looked so nice. The area competitions resulted in four wir.- ners. Area winners went to state to compete again and those winners competed nationally. Unfortu- nately, CHS members have not gone to national competition yet, but that is their goal for next year. VOE also had many interesting field trips, which included El Paso Natural Gas Co., Trans-Mountain Campus of El Paso Community College, Wang Word Processing Center, and the Computer Cen- ter at UTEP. Club members wound up the year with their annual Pool Party. It was a nice way to end the year and say good-bye to its graduating seniors.
