Mrs. Martin - Math Secondary Education means that we, as teachers, have a unique opportunity to help prepare young adults to par- ticipate in the world today. It is a challenge, because, as adults, we must winnow out the necessary material and present only that which we consider most useful. It is a pleasure because, many times, we see students who have taken this knowledge and used it to benefit themselves and others. Secondary Educa- tion gives us an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of society through the improvement of individuals. Mr. Turner - Math Secondary Education is the beginning of your adult life. A person should begin planning and studying for the future. I would hope that during high school a person could obtain the necessary skills to succeed in an occupation or continue their education, in an institu- tion of higher learning. Miss Ponikvar - Band Preparing students for col- lege or jobs to make a living outside of school.

Mr. Boyd - History The attempt to provide meaningful experiences that will prepare the individual for the adult world. Mrs. Sanich - Librarian Secondary Education was the best time of my life - you make life long friends: you enjoy education while achiev- ing maturity, and yet you have no responsibilities, per se. You experience your first romance: you attend your first dance: and all of a sudden poetry has a great meaning. Too bad we lose all this later in life. 'S Mr. Aguilar - Principal Education must assist stu- dents to develop abilities to plan, cope with, and success- fully affect their personal and their society's future. Students need to realize that there are alternative futures and that the future is affected by their actions in the present and their image of the future. Students must be taught and they must learn to look into their future with hope and planning, not as pawns of fate.

lv Coach Comancho - Athletics Privileged opportunity for the young. Coach Newcomer - Athletics, English Secondary Education pro- vides me the opportunity to come in contact with a wide variety of super people including administrators, teachers and students, which is beneficial to me as a person and I hope that some of the others that come in contact with me benefit also. Mr. Vigil - Counselor The curriculum must pre- pare students either for a job or for college. The educa- tional system must be over- hauled to meet the needs of the majority and the realities of the new world of jobs- career-oriented education fol- lowed by career-exploration and followed by actual train- ing in the 11th and 12th grades. Whether people sur- vive and improve, depends upon the resolution of man's differences with himself and fellowman. We are learning everyday that many chances are leading to: alienation, hostility, powerlessness, being manipulated, unemployed, drugs, violence, suicide, col- lapse of health, and racism.
