Spirit Through Dedication We wish to dedicate this year ' s Veritas to Br. John D. Carr in memory and gratitude of the years of service to God and his students as a Christian Brother. He was born in Kil- common Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland in April, 1908. At the age of 16 he entered the Congregation. Two years later in May, 1926 he received the habit and then finished his scholasticate in September, 1927. A year later in 1928 Br. Carr was assigned to a position in St. John ' s Newfoundland. This was to begin his life ' s work in the North American continent. He has worked at Br. Rice High School in New York, Leo High School in Chicago, St. Laurence High School in Oaklawn, Illinois and here at Cantwell teaching social studies and religion. Brother has been at Cantwell since 1971 pri- marily as a religion teacher. Br. Carr has left a lasting impression in terms of hard work and perseverance In each of his students by his example in the classroom. On April 16, 1974 Br. Carr celebrated his Golden Jubilee at Cantwell as a man of God and an educator of youth.
