God Knows What He IS About The English language with all its richness and its countless words, sometimes tails us. Figures of speech cannot completely indicate nor can superla- tives do ljustice to the expression of our feelings of gratitude and love for someone like Father O'Dowd. Probably this good Priest did not realize the part he has played in the lives ot all of us associated with CANTWELL . . . and the influence tor good that he was and shall continue to be as long as this school he loved stands in the shadows of the tower ot his beloved St. Alphonsus Church. Words fail us because we see in Father O'Dowd the mystery of God's love for us. He was a link in the chain which binds us to our Creator. He was an angel of peace who constantly reminded us-by his generosity, his dedication, his interest, his love -that God is with us. We console ourselves by thinking with Cardinal Newman: God does nothing in 'vain- H e knows what He is about. He may take way my friendsg He may throw me among strangers. He may make me feel desolate, Make my spirits sink, Hide my future from me-still God knows what He is about! Oh, yes4thank God-He knew what He was about! REVEREND FATHER PATRICK I.
