F lv CANTON HIGH SCHOOL w+x Gllaan 31-Irainrg TINIF M XRCHIIS OX 1932 33 In the fall of nrneteen hundred and thrrty two we entered Canton Hrgh School as the greenest of green In fact for the first two or three days we were rn a daze However we soon settled down The class officers were elected as follows Richard Lobdell President 'Vlary E Pike Vice President John Smrth Secretary and Treasurer Frank Thomas Athletic Represen tatrve, 'Vlr Blankman Class Advrsor In February the time of the cold Q40 belowj someone began to clamor for a slergh ride The hue and cry ware taken up so under the able direction of Mr' Blankman, this long looked for event took place After this one outburst all ambition seemed lackrng 01 perhaps everyone was so busy, that bright rdeas were drrven away Thus spring came regents followed and so ended our freshman year 1933 34 Time Marches On' We came back our turn so wc bothered and teased the fresh men rn the most unbecomrng manner The first class meetrng was promptly held Frank Thomas was elected President, Erma Thornhill Vrce Presrdent, William Walsh Secretary and Treasurer, Robert Leonard and Garold Stone Athletic Representatives, Mr Danforth Class Advrsor Throughout the year the class remarned somewhat dormant Evidently everyone was studying hard rn order to become upper classmen 1934 30 Thus we worked to a higher level, for rn the fall of 34 back we came, very important Juniors Thrs was an outstanding important busy year To hold an office rn this class was not just a mere trtle but an honor a desired positron So after much argument Wrllard Longshore was given the honor of being chosen class President Mary E Prke Vice President Russell 1BusterJ Lawrence, Secre tary and Treasurer and because of their out standing abrlrty rn thrs lrne Frank Thomas and Jack DePue were Athletrc Representatives Mr Danforth was again our Faculty Advrsor Drrectly after January regents plans for the annual Junior Prom were made The various committees were named and the work started Clark Masons 'Vlelody Vendors furnished the music whrle nearly 100 couples danced rn one of the most hrghly decorated halls rn the rs tory of the school This was consrdered the festive ex ent of the year In June the Junior Class decorated the audrtorrum rn order to grwe the Seniors a flowery send off 1930 36 Nlerther God nor man can stop the advance of Tme' Thus rn the fall of 3 we came back high and lordly Seniors For the honorable posrtron of President Jack DePue was elected Willard Malterner and Bette Brown were respectively Vice Presrdcnt and Secretary and Treasurer Frank Thomas Captain of football and basketball represented us in athletics Miss Roche was Faculty Advrsor The school year of 35 36 wrll long b remembered for outstanding athletic events The Canton High School Golden Bears cbalked up a new record rn football by going through an undefeated season clrmaxed by Also in basketball the high school team had a hrghly successful season Although the Golden Bears suffered a few defeats, they clrmaxed the season by wrnnrng the basketball trophy from O F A The socral events of the year included a tea dance soon after school began The Senior girls feted the football squad at a Drnner Dance held rn the Grammar School Gym whrch was most entertaining and greatly appreciated by the squad The mam socral event of the year however was the annual Senror Ball whrch was held in June Due to the wrse counsel of Mrss Roche and the hard work of the various com mlttees, wrsely selected by Jack DePue, the Ball was consrdered even more of a howlrng success than the Prom of the year before Although the dance was prrvate a record crowd danced untrl one rn the morning t which time each and every couple declared that rt was grand In a few weeks the goal for whrch we had been striving graduation was upon us For days we were wandering around rn a daze however we managed to surmount the great obstacle regents blow very soon we will receive our long coreted diplomas and set forth from good old Canton Hrgh School the place of our works our dreams and our am brtrons for four years rnto the unknown space beyond to seek our fortunes -John Smrth ,r .,,-,Q rnll .NBR . 1 4 1 Y .4 J A Al A -, H . . l . hn- . - .
