1970 MOD ERI AN Canton South High School Canton, Ohio Co-Editors: Contents ATHLETICS ACTIVITIES 131 PATRONS . ns Dedication Mrs. Aldalyn Fiedler 4 Wellsville, Ohio, is not a large town, but it has produced some notable people. Among them is our own Aldalyn Fiedler, who tame from a family of educators to be- come an educator. To prepare for her future in teaching, Mrs. Fiedler attended Bethany College in West Virginia and later attended Ohio State and Kent State. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in F.ducation. She began her teaching career in Jefferson County, Ohio, and taught at East Liver- pool and Weirton, West Virginia, before coming to Stark County. In addition to being a teacher, she has given the teaching profession a daughter, Jean, who is married and lives in Columbus. The business world has also profited from the mind and industry of Mrs. Fiedler. She has held positions with both Timken and Hoover Companies and was a saleslady for the Lincoln Library. These diversified experiences have added to the richness of her teaching and the concreteness of her philosophy. Aldalyn Fiedler could never really leave teaching nor could teaching leave her. The adage she lives by is. We learn by teaching.” In her twenty-three years with Canton Local. Mrs. Fiedler has continued to learn—she has learned much about her students which she willingly uses to help them help themselves; she has learned much about fellow educators where she is equally adept at praising or apprizing both with great sincerity I and finesse; she has become one of the most versatile educators Canton Local has had the privilege of realizing on many grade levels, and in many subject areas. Most of all, Aldalyn Fiedler knows herself. She loves good reading, she discriminately watches tele- vision, and she is a spectator sports enthusiast. For this richness in background, education and devotion, the students at Canton South High School dedicate this 1969-70 edition of the yearbook. Aldalyn Fiedler will never become obscure; she will always be an educator to her many students, past and present and her grateful associates. 5 8 9 fionoi IKoil of Jf nine • •59 lancv tcptlan I960 jVt« M fiance § 196 1 lcPa«i Stauffer 1962 |S_A nn iKocR(«i 1963 Htttafoy ft • 963 (JcraLS?rxirc 1963 AnMfu'Jvn iupr I 1 063 1 !Ha;e P R'Xbwu • 96 3 tantf Kickoct 1 19 6 3 Moron Ronnoc i 1963 ejmn 31U3K« 196 5 iyronf oanc 1965 a A5RlctajJ 196 J«oiy!?]ttcka«f 1967 I960 I Aoma arlou 1 I960 £)kmc J w crfin I960 Idftomao Rcislcrl I i- IK ' 1 1 60 jloxpA '!lWvtr 19 70 £rucc ts ifton 1 1970 12 President Jim Isner, Secretary Debbie Gordon, Treasurer Kathy Herbert, Vice President Nanci Meister COLOR: Blue and Gold FLOWER: Yellow Rose MOTTO: The end of life is death and the end of knowledge is failure. 13 I ennis R. Diane Lynn Beans Diane Lynn Beans, class of 1970, met accidental death on Christmas Eve 1969. It was indeed hard to accept by those who had known the jovial personality and ready smile of Diane as she lived among her peers. She loved to sing; is there an angelic choir? She loved to write sentimental compositions; is there a golden book for her talents now? We mortals cannot answer these questions, but she left us with the memory of her voice, her smile, her sentimentalities—these are a rich legacy from a treasured mortal association. Russell Dean King Russell Dean King would have been in the class of 1973. His classmates and teachers knew him as a shy but friendly young man with a great desire to do his best. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. King, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ova Kintigh, saw him as a lover of the outdoors, using nature as his classroom. Russell's ambition was to be a farmer. He was not allowed to reach his goal, but his few years on earth saw a great stride toward this occupation. We take this opportunity to dedicate words to his memory, but he dedicated his short life to Christian living which is the greatest exemplary dedication one can give. Daniel Roy Caldwell Daniel Roy Caldwell, class of 1971, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Caldwell, 4127 13th St. N.E., met his death in a swimming accident. Dan was a friend to all. His love of hunting and fishing and the great outdoors made him close to nature. In his memory we dedicate a portion of this book, and to his family, we give the heartfelt sympathy in the loss of one so young and dear. Arthur Reilly Arthur Reilly, class of 1971, came to this school from East Canton. Consequently, Arthur was not well known to many, but those who knew him realized his desire to become a teacher and emulate the sound of educational experiences he had known as a student. Arthur was described by his peers as friendly, courteous, and helpful. Certainly these assets are a memorial to pass on to those who are yet aspiring to the goal Arthur did not live to achieve. 108 In Memoriam Pam Moistcr, Sue Cush, Sue Cernick, Faye Brumby, Sally McGrew, Patti Spradling. Behind each succeeding door lies new and exciting territory waiting to be explored. Finding the answer to one question opens the door to a myriad of related questions. Continuing to learn can be like spending the rest of your life unwrapping a surprise package. We know because we’ve been doing it throughout our corporate life. Every time we’ve thought we knew all there was to know about appliances, we’ve come upon 101 new questions looking for answers. It’s sometimes difficult. It’s always challenging. And it’s always interesting. And we’re sure an important reason for Hoover appliance leadership is that we’ve never thought of ourselves as know-it-alls. If you can't make a little of it... you can't make much of anything. Profit is what keeps a company's wheels turning. So it can keep turning out the products its customers rely on. And our wheels have been turning continuously for seventy years. Profit pays for our research and development. It helps us discover new bearing and steel uses. Profit pays for new facilities. And it pays for the people who have helped to make the profit. Can you help? Do you have the training and determina- tion it takes to meet the challenges of today's moon- rocketing technology? When you graduate, come see us. And if you plan to go on to college, remember us for the future. The Timken Roller Bearing Company, Canton, Ohio 44706. An Equal Opportunity Employer.
