You should take every advantage of this opportunity which comes but once in a lite- time. Your education should be all important to you in these times of modern advances in every field of endeavor. It is essential to have a scientific and mathematical knowledge to understand the modern inventions and technical changes which are taking place almost daily. This is also important in order to understand what we read in the newspapers or inagazines, understand the programs we hear on the radio or see on television or to even carry on an intelligent conversation. Education is for the masses in this Wonderful country of ours rather than for the few as it is in many of 'the countries of the world. Yes, education is necessary and wonderful. It is one thing which can never be taken away from you. Take advantage of the opportunity which is within your reach and make the best of what you have. -J. L. To start our treasury on its long climb, we collected tax stamps and sponsored several sock hops. Our 'Sophomoire year We busie-d ourselves with selling sweat sihirtig and sponsoring skating parties and sock hops. The first big event of our Junior year was selecting and ordering our class rings. To increase our treasury for the Prom, we sold class ping and sponsored the homecoming dance and sock hops. XVe soon found ourselves Wrapped up in the excitement of our fun filled play entitled 'tAcCidental Hero directed by MF- CHSDGF- BY HOW QVQTYOHG WHS 100kiI1g f0'1'W2lI'd to the Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet at which the theme was Magic Moments. Finally we returned to school as big time Sieiiiors. To start our deflated treasury booming again, we sold inagazirnes and sponsored sock hops. We kept ourselves busy with the trading of our senior pictures and With our zany play entitled i'One Mad Night. VVe began making plans for the Prom which the Juniors were to give us. All too soon We realized that our fun filled high school days were almost over. Now that We are ready to graduate, we look back with fondness on all the wonderful memories we have shared together. XVe wish to thank everyone who has helped us on our journey through high school. and to express a special thank you to our sponsors: Mr. Sitauffer, Mr. Rieger, and Mrs, Heisler. 30 SENIORS EDWARD ADOLPH LILLIAN ANDREWS SHIRLEY BAITY GEORGE BARNES RONALD AMAN DELORIS BAILEY THOMAS BALLAS MARCIA BEDNARZ SUSAN BENNETT WILLIAM BLANTON JEAN ETTE BORKOWSKI TIM BOWER JOSEPH BRIESE LARRY BORON BONNIE BOWERS JAMES BROWN One of the 'many projects of the Homemaking IV class is th-Q annual Play School PAUL BRUMBAUGH BEVERLY CHERRY GARY CLAUSS LARRY COFFY JAN ETTE COKER CHARLES COX 33 CAROLINE CRISP CHRISTINE CUSH CAROL DAVIS Going to the library is a weekly habit of these senior girls. ORN in America-so he has freedom of speech. He's ex- pressing it already-and he can go right on criticizing, discuss- ing, debating for the rest of his life here. Nobody's ever going to tell him to shut up! Imagine the difference, had he been born in a Communist coun- try. He'd never be able to Criti- cize anything. He couldnit sound off about taxes, government, job, prices, criticize public officials. Why not? Well, if he did he'd be shot. We hope he becomes a good, honest, sincere critic. We hope he'll always stand right up and defend his rights. We hope helll never be afraid to turn the spot- light on wrongs-so someone will take steps to right them. Be- cause that's the American way, and it's an American right guar- anteed by the Constitution. It's a freedom, and we're all born to it. One thing we know: the rest of us arenit going to let anyone come in and rob him of this right, until he grows up and can defend it for himself. We aren't going to trade our freedoms- any of them-for Iron Curtain conditions. Will you stand up and defend your freedom of speech? If you do, nobody can ever take it away from you.
