CLASS HISTORY ..t- It seems like only yesterday we entered Canton South as frightened, trouble- some seventh graders. Miss Mayer and Mr. Werstler were our first class sponsors and Jim Filliez was our first class president. Our big project was the paper drive, and we ended our first year at Canton South with a class party. We advanced into the eighth grade still uncertain of what was going on. Our president was Tom Daily and Miss Anderson and Mr. Allen were our sponsors. We had shadow-cutting in the Senior Carnival to build up our treasury. Our class party was the big event of the year. It seems that the girls never can beat the boys in baseball. At last we were full-fledged freshmen. john Matz was our president and Miss Anderson and Mr. Kiplinger helped make our year successful. We collected tax stamps to raise money. To wind up the year we had our class party. Our sophomore year began with Barbara Ferren as our president and Miss Seanor and Mr. Kiplinger as our very able class sponsors. Our big money-making project was our skating parties. We had a paper drive, collected tax stamps, sold balloons and tape, and collected class dues to help build up our treasury. Our big thrill was ordering our class rings. We had our class party at New Phila- delphia. At last we are Big Time Juniors. Barbara Ferren was our president once again and we still had our very able sponsors, Miss Seanor and Mr. Kiplinger. Since our junior-Senior Prom wasn't far away, we had to work very hard to make it successful. We collected tax stamps and class dues, had another paper drive, sold autograph books, and had our famous wrestling show in the Senior Carnival. Men Are Like Street Cars was our junior Class Play, and quite successful at that. Our junior-Senior banquet was held at the First Presbyterian Church. Martin Alexander played Hawaiian music to carry out our theme. At last it was time for the junior-Senior Prom. We danced to the music of Phil Mason in the ballroom of the Onesto Hotel. Our theme was Rhapsody in Blue. Our last event of the year was our class party at Lake O' Springs. And now our senior year with all of its thrills and excitement. Jerry Haney was our class president. Miss Seanor, who was a great help to us during most of our high school days, and Mr. Goerke were our sponsors. The magazine sale was our big project. The boys and girls had a contest to see who could sell the most magazines, and the girls won. The boys treated us to a weiner roast. Too bad it had to snow, but thanks anyway, boys. We collected stamps, paid class dues, and sold soap kittens to raise money. Our Class Play, Mother Is a Fresh- man, went over big. We chose our class colors, had our class pictures taken, Rita Lesh wrote the words to our song, chose our class flower, and ordered our invitations. The Prom which we received from the juniors was swell . . . thanks! Finally Baccalaureate and Commencement. After six wonderful years at Canton South we knew it had to end, but we know for sure we will always remember Canton South. Page 28
