Of the original class 18 remain. They are: Cindy Carskadon, John Collins, Chris Downs, P. K. Feldkamp, Tracy Fryer, Beth Gaus, Tricia Hardin, Roger Hetzler, Michael Levengood, W. G. Lewis, Jeff Murphy, Tonya Otto, Krissie Penn, Andy Schroeder, Sara Small, Robbie Sullens, Steve Uhlmeyer, and Wendy Wilson. The A.M. Kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Kae Parker and the P.M. teacher was Mrs. Predmore. In first grade we were joined by Billy Childress, Candace Jacobs, Brenda McCloy, Naomi Schork, Billy Wells, and David Woodworth. Our teachers were Mrs. McBride and Mrs. Ann Parker. In second grade the new arrivals were Scott Bridgeman, Mike Dunaway, and Rick Simmons. Our teachers were Mrs. Tower and Mrs. Kolthoff. The third grade brought us Doug Green, Kevin Scheufele, Melissa and Michelle Schuetz, and Chad Zahn. Our teachers were Mrs. Walter and Mrs. Krueger. We skimmed through fourth grade with the help of Mrs. Willis and Mrs. Lewis. Jimmy Crenshaw was our only arrival in the fifth grade. This was a big step for some of us because we had four teachers: Mrs. Tripp, Mrs. McCutchan, Mrs. Dorris and Mr. Aldridge. The sixth grade brought us Devra Buckwalter, Sean Cooper, Stephen Nelson, and Eric Voss. We kept the same teachers. Then we had another big step going into seventh grade, Junior High, because we had seven teachers, which were Mr. Berry, Mrs. Dennison, Mrs. Schryver, and others. Our new classmates were Teresa Hedges and Renee Sherwood. We zipped through eighth grade with the same teachers. Finally we reached High School and became lowly Freshmen but we made it. We also made it through our Sophomore year. It was a lot easier because we weren't freshmen anymore. Our Junior year brought around Magazine Sales which raised money for Prom. The theme was Tender Years. Our only new arrival was James Parrish. During our year as ruling Seniors we sold oranges and grapefruit to earn money for our Senior Trip to Chicago. Our sponsors were Miss Moore, Mr. Lillard, Mr. Rusk, and Miss Gladbach. This year Traci White and Missy Brooks came to our school. Our class size is now 42. Why did I get up here? (It was now 2008.) As I drove into town and passed Martin Park I saw stables with horses. I found out later that Chris Downs had married Gail Collins and their stables were a large tourist attraction. Behind the stables I saw a small repair shop run by Ricky Simmons, Billy Childress, and Doug Green. I stopped in and chatted with them and discovered that Devra Buckwalter had married Steve Uhlmeyer. They are expecting their twelfth child. Steve is still praying for their first boy. They run Uhlmeyer's Bar Grill in the hills of Georgia. Sara Small is also expecting and is a housewife. Jeff Murphy happened to drop by the repair shop because the rain hindered him from farming. Jeff saw Billy Wells and Stephen Nelson at his daughter's female Junior High School where they work as janitors. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. They were cleaning up after the Gospel Music Show that my old friend Chad Zahn starred in. It sure was nice of Renee Sherwood to hire him. I said good-bye and headed over to my old school, and who greeted me at the door, but Melissa Schuetz. She was happy to see me and immediately began telling me about my other classmates. It seems her sister, Michelle Schuetz, is working with Dr. Ruth on her new book. Brenda McCloy married Mark Walters and is living in Quincy where she works as a travel agent at Bergners. Naomi Schork works as a veterinarian in St. Louis. Tracy Fryer has just been elected president of Chi Omega sorority at Harvard. Cindy Carskadon has been on an African safari where she met Scott Bridgeman who has an acute case of malaria and is in quarantine. Robbie Sullens is unemployed at the moment, although he is writing country music for the Grand Ole Opry. James Parrish is a sergeant in the Army but his whereabouts are unknown. Jimmy Crenshaw married Ann Allison and they are robbing banks. They were last seen headed for Cuba. Traci White, her husband, and daughter are running a YMCA Camp in Colorado. Missy Brooks is a fashion designer in Paris. Krissie Penn and Teresa Bringer are running a Day Care Center next to Roger Hetzler and Davy Woodworth's Aerobic Fitness Center in Canton. Tonya Otto and P. K. Feldkamp have their own art gallery in downtown Chicago. This is just a little bit too much for me to comprehend and I remember the class clown, Eric Voss. To my surprise, I found out he is the head of the department of sanitation and waste for the entire New York City. I went into Ayerco and I almost fainted when I saw Candy Jacobs, Beth Ann Gaus, and Wendy Wilson all dressed in black and white passing out brochures for their new convent. I began feeling dizzy so I checked into a hotel. The manager was playing with her new SAC computer designed and incorporated by Sean Cooper. She told me that there was a basketball game at Culver. Head Coach, Andy Schroeder, and Assistant Coach, Michael Levengood, were having a good season. It seems that they were forced to take the positions because of damages done to the President's home while drag racing in the Fantom and Mustang down the concourse. I turned on the T.V. to watch the Head Coach, Mike Dunaway, of the Dallas Cowboys demolish the Pittsburgh Steelers. There was a news flash announcing the retirement of basketball star Kevin Scheufele of the L.A. Lakers. I flipped the channel and I saw Tricia Hardin on her Women's Lib Talk Show. A commercial came on and the old class Vice-President's smiling face appeared on the screen for Wilbur's of Hollywood, Lingerie and Intimate Apparel. As I was about to fall asleep, my football game was interrupted. I smiled as I heard the voice of the President of the United States giving in inaugural speech. It was my former Class President. 7 Sponsors: Miss Moore, Mr. Lillard, Miss Gladbach, Mr. Rusk, President: John Collins, Vice-President: W. G. Lewis, Secretary: Tracy Fryer, Treasurer: Eric Voss. That's 20 long years of his life that he has devoted to the kids at Canton High School. He must really care a great deal to have stuck around this long. His motto is Practice doesn't make Perfect, Perfect Practice makes Perfect. And the only way to make it perfect is to practice a lot and he gives the kids the incentive to practice. Without Mr. Berry the band wouldn't be what it is today! We all love and respect Mr. Berry and we are very glad that he is here. The Tigers played at the 200th Anniversary of the Constitution, September 17, in Canton. September 19 they marched in the Keokuk parade and then traveled to Kahoka to march in that parade. They took 1st place in both. The Tigers competed in the Ft. Madison, Iowa, Oktoberfest celebration on October 3. They placed 1 st and won the People's Choice Award. They marched in the Hannibal Mark Twain Festival on October 13. They stayed down there all day and practiced for a night concert. The Marching Tigers performed as the host band for Culver-Stockton's Homecoming on October 24. Their last parade was at Kirksville. We are all proud of Mr. Berry and His Band!!! Marching across the field at Hannibal Mass Band at Hannibal Junior Drum Major: Sean Flanagan CONCERT BAND The first concert was on Sunday, February 14. It started at 2 p.m. The Junior High band played a few pieces. Randy Horner directed the last song. The Senior High band played several pieces, some of which were Waldo Pepper March and The Marriage of Figaro. The band chipped in and bought Mr. Berry a puppy for his birthday. Usually they get him a sweater but this year they went all out. The puppy is an Airedale. 53 Special Moments! £ 4 HOMECOMING by Cindy Carskadon December 5,1987, was started off with all three victories. The J.V. boys defeated South Shelby. The materials for the scarecrows were brought to school by the students. The scarecrows were constructed in the elementary art room. Great job kids! Story tetters On April 22 during National Library Week, Dr. Carolyn Kane and Mrs. Lucretia Craw came and read stories to the elementary. Dr. Kane read the story The Witch Who Wasn't Sensible from Highlights for Children’ magazine. The students also asked Dr. Kane about her writing and how she has her stories published. Mrs. Craw, from Canton, read stories to the third thru sixth grades. The stories she read were related to what the students were doing in class.
