Record setting stamina produces■ —3,053 Situps!— Executing situps in a crowded school cafeteria is not a new form of peculiar punishment for misbehavior. However, had a stranger moseyed through the lunchroom December 22, he may have thought otherwise. With his feet securely taped to a mat-covered table, freshman Todd Campbell began his successful attempt to reach 3,000 situps within a 90 minute period. Eight weeks of faithful training paid off as this slender young man exhibited little strain during the record-setting event. As fourth hour drew to an end, Coach Kaiser indicated that Todd has passed the 3,000 mark and was determined to continue. Students, faculty and cooks alike gazed in amazement and began intermittent cheers of praise and encouragement. Touching his elbows to his knees 3,053 times, Campbell completed a herculean feat, earning the respect and admiration of persons at CHS. Fourth shift lunchers Dan Smith, Johnny Weathers, Tony Dye and Drew Wilson nonchalantly carry on as Todd continues his efforts. 20 Student Life

—PETs Allowed in School— CHS is inching its way into the world of high technology with the acquisition of twoCommadore PET computers. The used, $150.00 machines were purchased in August from Data Plus in Quincy, Illinois. A third unit was also on loan from the same business. The computer room became a hub of activity as interested students responded enthusiastically to the PETs. Further course development will channel more energies in this area of instruction. Monsieur Chris Holmes Herb McClaughry, Mrs. Crawford and Randa Harbourn Stacey Zahn —Hams!— One of the more amusing aspects of life down our alley is the wonderful folks who send us catipulting into snickers, snorts, chuckles and down right fits of laughter. They are those amateur comedians who make our days more lively and bearable — HAMS! Hamming it up is a popular pastime for a vast quantity of frolicsome people. These characters may disguise themselves as star-studded celebrities such as Santa Claus, mimic obscure personalities as Dr. Doolittle’s eccentric sister, or just act plain strange. The antics are endless! These hams spawn merriment and relieve tensions. They are delightful additions to life right down our alley.
