Promenading through the gym, varsity basketball players Kevin Dodd, Bruce Dade and Jeff Van Tress begin a burlesque-like act. Humbled Coach Kellermann obediently waits for another splat of cold ice cream. Incognito cheerleading squads victimized Greg Pearl with a splash of warm water. Student Life 11

Outrageous =Entertainment Special afternoon assemblies are favorite events at CHS. They are a welcome break from the routine of classes and a time to relax with friends. They also provide outrageous and sometimes embarrassing entertainment. Many good natured participants have endured dry crackers, cold water, bath towels, bananas, chocolate ice cream and tricycles for the sake of promoting school spirit. Attempting to drop a scoop of ice cream approximately three feet into a cone held in someone’s mouth is a difficult task. Sophomore Tina Owsley, having missed her target, spontaneously smooshes Coach Kaiser’s face with chocolate ammunition! Uninhibited basketball athletes Jeff Van Tress, Bruce Dade, Bruce Hoffman, Brian Pearl and Matt Berry artistically lead a spelling cheer. Principal Christine Crawford receives her fair share of melting ice cream from Coaches Rene Kellermann and Paul Kaiser. 10 Student Life

Parading through the streets in colorful pajamas and flowing bathrobes is not a typical marching drill, but the award-winning Marching Tigers and their director, Bill Berry, are far from typical. Sleepy-eyed residents and businessmen just arriving to work were surely astounded by the outlandish sight of ninety-six, pajama-clad (and totally serious!) band students polishing their marching skills. This zany, early morning practice preceded the N.M.S.U. Homecoming parade in Kirksville on October 9. The prideful Tigers fared well with a I rating and a second place in overall competition. 12 Student Life
