School Helpers SEATED: Jan Mooney, Title I Aide: Shelby Miller, Volunteer Aide in Second Grade: Donna Bringer. 7-12 Special Education Aide. STANDING: Mary Atkins. 1-4 Special Education Aide: Kay Webster, Learning Disabilities Aide. BOOSTER CLUB AND C.A.P.S. arc two parent-support groups active in the community. Williamstown enjoys the support of an active P.T.A. Since its organization in 1971, the Can Will Booster Club has been geared to raise funds to purchase equipment for use in the schools or to pay for improvements to the school plant. Major projects for the club this year included “paint nights. an extra wide out-of-bounds marker on the gym floor, a Tiger's head on the center circle of the gym. painted by Rich Baily, a contribution towards the new score-board and, a substantial contribution toward the cost of paint for the new building’s interior. The concession stand was equipped by the club and furniture was placed in the new lobby. A carnival, a crafts bazaar and the concession stands at basketball games and the Cansippi Relay were moneymakers for the club. Officers for the 1975-76 year included Jerry Prather. President: O. C. Shuman. 1st Vice President: Dorothy English. 2nd Vice-President: Sis Schlepphorst. Secretary: Ruth Ayers, Treasurer. C.A.P.S., or Canton Association of Parent Support, in its second full year of service has become an important part of organized parent support in the Canton system. Its goal is better communication and understanding between home and school. CAPS members served a “Back-to-School luncheon to teachers to kick off their year and programs during the year included a status report on Canton R-V by Supt. Creason. Coral Music, a Bicentennial program and a Pot Pourri of 5th and 6th Grades. CAPS also organized the room-mothers for Canton Elementary. Officers for the 1975-76 term were President, Beth Kenney: Vice-President, Nancy Wilson: Secretary-Treasurer, Elaine Lee. 23
