Soccer, Golf, And Tennis. The soccer team had a fine year which ended with a 7-2 record. This was a great improvement over last year's seasonal record. The only losses Canton received were at the hands of Quincy's Christian Brothers High School. Mike Schaffer (left) and Lanse Tomlinson are pictured above in a doubles match against Memphis. Both Schaffer and Tomlinson are seniors. The boys tennis team which is a relatively new sport to Canton High had a record of 2-6 while the girls team, in their first year, won both of the matches they played in. Members of the boys team are: Lanse Tomlinson, Sam Calvert, Mike Schaffer, Joe Wheeler, Jim Smith, Kent Miller, John Moon, Tom Ryan, and Craig Myers. The girl's team consisted of Patti Little, Janet Mohr, Pattie Sykes, Mary Lynn Todd, Deb-by Garnet and Maggie Queen. In the third spring sport of the year, golf, six eager players brought home a 4-6 record to end the sports year of 68-69 for Canton High School.
