Getting out a yearbook takes a lot of planning, time, and work but it is also a lot of fun, eh, girls? All of us! Pasters” 2 I HEAR AMERICA SINGING Walt Whitman I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear, Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe and strong, The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam, The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work, The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat, the deckhand singing on the steamboat deck, The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench, the hatter singing as he stands, The wood-cutter's song, the ploughboy's on his way in the morning, or at noon intermission or at sundown, The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work, or of the girl sewing or washing, Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else, The day what belongs to the day--at night the party of young fellows, robust, friendly, Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs. 4 ADMINISTRATION KENNETH ALLAN Superintendent Stanford University, Senior Class Sponsor Palo Alto, California NW Missouri State College B. The editorial committee decided to give special recognition to these people by listing their names on a special page of the '68 yearbook. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council has been a very active organization during 1967-68 as it has always been in the past. It started out with four new officers elected by the student body. With a new handbook and revised constitution the twenty members created a very active Student Council. To start off the year's activities, the Student Council sponsored a Hobo Dance in September later followed by such activities as a Canned Food Drive and the biggest event of the year, Homecoming. In the Spring the Council sponsored a Twirp Week followed, at the end of the week, by a Sadie Hawkins Dance. The Council has also sponsored a Variety Show to make money for a school sign. Mainly the Spring has been devoted to the Council's working on the 1968-69 Fall workshops which will be held at Canton. This is a big event for the school.. The members of the Student Council were very fortunate to attend workshops during the year. These workshops better the members as well as the Council itself. The 1967-68 Student Council has been a hard-working organization and has accomplished much to better the school and make it a more enjoyable place for the students.
