Turner August, 1965 ALFRED E. TURNER ”1 would not sit in the scornerTs seat, Or hurl the cynic’s ban; — Let me live in the house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.” A1 Turner, worker and leader in religious, civic, educational, and business activities, was indeed a friend to man. He served as chairman of the official board of the Immanuel Methodist church; president of the Chamber of Commerce; president of the Canton school board, District R-V; and president of the Missouri Restaurateurs Association. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion.
