a small fortune and provided our group with such items as sissy dresses, candy turtles, uncounted pairs of shoes, and assorted exotic perfumes. That night we took a guided tour and saw Chicago After Dark . Hull House, Skid Row, the Maxwell Street market, and even Chinatown where we paused long enough to buy Chinese puzzles, gold ciga- rette holders, and other widely assorted trivia. Around the corner we found the Chinatown City Hall and the Chinese Mer- chants Associatton. We toured the building and examined the unusual Buddhist temple room and the old Chinese courtroom. Sunday morning, after a mad dash through town with taxi drivers who dldn't know where they were going, we arrived at the Chicago Temple for church services. T After the service, we climbed to the steeple, 400 feet above the street, and viewed the Chapel in the Sky, a small, beautifully decorated room almost 40 stories above the streets of Chicago. Climbing down proved much easi- er than climbing up the 173 steps that led to the Chapel. 3- Q 1 gn' N. on llill 'I ss n neu stun I l nu ,f Ima' Im I J 03: If ' ,gi z, 5 , , U: , V' 1 N - 'ls :sta 9 all ...
