Class Will We, the Senior Class, being of sound mind and body to make this last Will and Testament on the twenty-third day of May in the ye ar of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-Seven the Faculty we bequeath all the undergrads. the Board we bequeath the school. the Juniors we bequeath our ability to stay in school and keep the teachers happy. the Sophomores we bequeath our attractive faces, figures , and personalities. the Freshmen we bequeath our good will---you'll'need it before you graduate. Karma Berry, bequeath my ability to get I's on vocal solos to Donald Sherwood. Charolette I. Brown, bequeath my ability to take food from the Conrad Hilton and get away with it to Dick Blackmore. Judith Janice Clark, bequeath Ed's ring to no one--it looks gn nice onmy finger. Bruce Dunlap, bequeath my ability to sleep through classes to John Horsman. James E. Hardin, having nothing I can afford to give, bequeath Judy's this year's Prom corsage to the Junior or Senior boy who needs one for next year. James Horsman, bequeath my dramatic acting ability to Bob Helsabeck . Elaine Jackson, bequeath my height to Marilyn Campbell. Robert L. Johnson, bequeath the money I spent driving Ed around to no one--I'm still broke . Mary Joanne Marks, bequeath my pony tall to Judy Sommers. Jackie I.ou Mease, bequeath little Sally Ann to Jane Taylor. Betty Ruth Powers, bequeath my ability to help the cooks in the lunch room to Bill Berry. Phyllis M. Shanks, bequeath my ability to help Mrs. Bradshaw to Clarence Tate. Erlene Stlffey, bequeath my ability to get the only available male in the Senior Play to Sondra Watson. Evelyn Inez Tate, bequeath my ability to keep Mrs. Motley laughing by giving unusual book reports to any one who needs to keep Mrs. Motley laughing. Allene Weathers, bequeath my ability to laugh to Ginger Mease--who doe sn't know how. Shirley Louise Williams, bequeath my ability to miss the train to Chicago to Miss DeLany so she won't walk the streets of Chicago looking for bottle openers. Betty Jo Wiskirchen, bequeath my ability to keep Mrs. Leavitt happy to Charles Brown . Michael W. Zenge, bequeath my ability to be such a lucky guesser on tests to Barry Starr. 1 'sr-v 's '1f'!'ZE7' Class Histow One fine fall day ln 1945 Canton Public School was blessed with the arrival of thirty-five darling first graders. Among those smiling faces were Charolette Brown, Bruce Dunlap, Edward Hardin, Iames Horsman, Mary Marks, Phyllis Shanks, Erlene Stlffey, and Michael Zenge . Miss Pauline Kiess instructed us for the first week before she became ill. Mrs. Frances Nichols substituted for her. Then Mrs. Ethel Lasswell acquired the job of teaching us demons for the rest of the year. Karma Berry joined our happy second grade group. Our teacher was Mrs. Lee ser. In the third grade Betty Io Wiskirchen bolstered our number. Mrs. Owens was our thlrd grade teacher. In the fourth grade we were not blessed with any new arrivals but we lost one happy member of our original class, Erlene Stiffey. Mrs. Legg taught us our multiplication and division tables. Mrs. VanTress taught our dubious class in the fifth grade. There were two additions to our class in the sixth grade. One, Erlene Sttffey, was a past member of our group and the other, Betty Ruth Powers, was a newcomer. We had the honor of being the first class taught by Mrs. Grandstaff. At long last we were ready to take the big step, Iunior High. Iudith Clark joined our class just in time to take that big step with us. Mrs. McClain was our seventh grade sponsor. Durlng the eighth grade our class was increased in number by two with the arrival of Jackie Mea se and Robert johnson. Iames Horsman and Patty Hamill were our King and Queen Candidates and we won the Iunlor High King and Queen Contest. Mr. Ohlendorf was our class sponsor. After eight years of hard study we finally reached High School. Mrs. Ohlendorf followed our class up another step to be our freshman sponsor. Our sophomore year we were joined by Allene Weathers, Shirley Williams, and Evelyn Tate. Our sophomore class sponsors were Mrs. Motley and Mr. Kneeland. Our junior year was a very trying year with such events as: magazine sales which amounted to over 510007 our first three act play, Here Comes Charlie : and the best Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet with the theme , Candyland . The class sponsors were Mrs. Leavitt and Mr. McCampbell. In our senior year we were joined by Elaine Jack son. As seniors we have accomplished several things. A few are: the production of a three act play, He Couldn't Marry Five , directed by Mrs. Ahrenholtz: the selling of pop corn, candy, pie, beanies, and picking up of corn for the Senior 'lrlp to Chicago: and the taking of all those well liked tests. The Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet given in our honor by the juniors is one of the seniors fondest me morles. The theme was Oriental Gardens' . Our co-sponsors were Miss DeLaney and Mr. Ellls. Our class colors were silver and blue: our flower was the bronze mum: and our motto was, If The Road To Success Is Blocked--Detour . Compliments of DON'S GRAND LEADER

.p-up-:qv-1 surge, . Class Prophecy The year is 1967. The graduating class of 1957 is holding its first ten year reunion in the Boulevard Room at the Conrad Hilton Hotel in Chicago. All eighteen members of the original class are present--my, what excitement! The whole room is simply buzzing with confusion. Over in the far corner of the room is none other than the famous Madame Charolletta, better known to most of us as Charolette Brown . Charolette now owns one of the most famous beauty salons in New York City. The former Shirley Williams is now a social secretary for the President's wife. Oh yes, she married Clarence. Lying asleep on the divan is Bruce Dunlap. He started out as a projectionist but with that Marlon Brando haircut he was soon discovered. There is Mary Marks , the head of the Home Economics Department at Stevens College for Women. She says she loves being an old maid and intends to stay that way. That is the former Elaine Jackson, married to the President of the National Auto Supply Company. By the way Elaine is the mother of two sets of twins, all boys. Robert Lionel Johnson, Ir. , as you know, is a big Oklahoma millionaire. In case you are wondering what he does with his money, he now owns his own chain of pinball machines. The one and only Allene Weathers is now happily married and has a nice little family of her own. In her spare time, she is still private secretary for Mr. Ohlendorf. Pirouetting in the corner is Iackie Mease, prima ballerina with the Ballet Russe. During the Senior Play she was bitten by the ballet-bug and decided to make it her career. Here comes Betty Io Wiskirchen, the second Betty Crocker and mother of three children. She recently patented her latest recipe discovery, Betty's Better Biscuits. Entering in formation are Genaal Iames Horsman, Mrs. Horsman, and their five little privates. Betty Ruth Powers is now coming into the room. Betty Ruth has recently married Alfred Hinton and they have a cute little home in Canton. Evelyn Tate, our next arrival, is head nurse in Walter Reed Hospital and is a special nurse to the President. Evelyn also has a husband and two lovely children. Standing across the room is the suave and sophisticated Ed. Hardin. Ed is now top execu- tive of Phillips 66 and simply rolling in money. Of course with those two girls and one boy Cllttle Eddie, Ir., he certainly needs it. The former Judi Clark, of course, is his happy little wife. On the side, Iudi writes stories and novels for several well-known magazines. I'm sure you've all seen Karma Berry on her own television program, Aunt Karma's Sing Song School . Karma finally found her Methodist minister, married him, and has two darling little girls. Coming into the room is the former Erlene Stiffey, who is the principal of a private school for movie stars' children in Hollywood, California. Erlene finally found that certain man and is happily married and the mother of a beautiful little girl. Who is that creating a sensation over in the corner of the room? Why, of course, it's Michael Zenge playing the piano. I do hope he has permission from the program committee. Mike recently received his doctors degree in music from Iulliard and is now playing at Carnegie Hall. Surrounding the former Phyllis Shanks are her husband, Ronald Clark, and theirtwo girls and four boys. Obviously, Phyllis has little time for a career and is content to remain a housewife. All are present and accounted for. We are going to take a boat ride for sure this time.
