For almost a month the high school building was surrounded by flood waters Meanwhile classes had to be dismissed and scheduled aCt1V1t18S held in other locations Drowned out activities at the school had piled up until it was necessary to schedule most of the end of the year affairs during the last week Monday and Tuesday of that week exams were taken by everyone but the Seniors who had theirs the previous Friday Ln Henderson Hall at Culver Stockton College The annual school fair was condensed to one night Saturday May 12 This was also held on the hill at L L Culver Gymnasium with Evelyn Taylor and Charlie Long Sophomores crowned for the high school and Patty Schaffer and Donald Glover seventh graders reigning over the IUDIOY High The Junior Senior banquet and prom were held Wednesday May 16 the banquet bemg at the Christian Church and the prom at Culver Stockton s student union the Cats Pause In this Dutch atmosphere Betty Jo Leeser was crowned Tulip Queen The Senior play For Pete s Sake was put on at the Culver Gym on May Z and the Seniors left the next day a day earlier than planned for their trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. Thursday morning s honor assembly and Class Day Program was moved to the Methodist Church. Thus, despite a very unusual ending to a school year, Canton Seniors graduated on the scheduled date, sincerely hoping that no other class has to graduate under the same circumstances that they did.
