Look who is just now getting here. It is Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Burke, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Otte. Mrs. Burke is the former Becky Sue( Raines and Mrs. Otte is the former Darlene Jacobs, both old grads of the class of 50. Becky and Donnie are the proud owners of a fine chicken farm and are known the world over for their pedigreed chickens. Darlene and Chester now have three sets of twins, all boys, and one other girl. I guess that gives them a good excuse for being a little late. Harold L. Logsdon and Joe Edwards have gone into partnership and have done with peanuts what Wrigley did with gum. You will remember that as a boy, Harold Lee made a good living from his peanut machines in and around Canton. Well, the partners expanded the business and now have peanut machines all over the United States. The boys remain quite unaffected by their wealth, however, and are having a great time here today. Mrs. Norman Adams, the former Frances Klusmeier, was here a minute ago, but seems to have gone now. She was out in her back yard digging dandelions one day when all of a sudden, oil gushed up. Since then they have started an oil refinery and now furnish gas and oil to all the filling stations for miles around. Spud Owen, known by everyone for his undefeated football team, is recently reported engaged to a beautiful Hollywood starlet. Over here sweeping off the sidewalk is Ruby Shew, whose work at the broom factory inspired her to invent and patent a new type of broom which is being bought by everyone. She recently built a huge broom factory here in Canton, which is said to produce half the world s supply of brooms. Sitting over here gazing into space and meditating to himself is Kenneth Wilbur Campen, one of the smartest men in the country. After high school, Kenneth followed his yearning for higher education and went on to receive many degrees from leading colleges all over the world. He continues to astound the world daily with his brilliant thinking and complicated theories, ,, That short dark fellow over there is Rocky Janney, known to us as Bud. After high school Bud worked as a carpenter in Canton until a Hollywood talent scout discovered him. He became an overnight sensation in Hollywood and is now a second Alan Ladd. That woman over there trying to control those two kids is Mrs. L. Green whom we recognize as Norma Jean Schaffer. Norma and Leaun were married soon after she graduated from high school and now run the huge Greene Super Market in downtown Canton. The toot you just heard signals the arrival of the excursion boat that is to take us to St. Louis where we will be privileged t,o watch a baseball game between the Cardinals and Dodgers.t Our atjpiission won t cost a thing because the manager of the Cardinals, Kenneth Gabby Hunt has given us free tickets. Hunt broke into the organization as bat-boy soon after high school and rose so rapidly that he has been manager now for the past few seasons. It pught to be a good game even though the Dodgers are in the cellar. Well, everyone s aboard and anxious to be off so I 11 bid you goodbye. It s been a good reunion and I hope we cantget together again sometime and compare notes on what has happened to the class of 50. 13
